genome The bookies must be tearing their hair out... are they allowed to ask for winnings back that they presumably paid out last night on his sacking?

"As he was employed on a one-year rolling contract, McDermott's pay-off may not be as extravagant as it might have been"

The rest of us think he signed a 3-year contract in 2012 after starting on a rolling contract (see http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=111901), but far be it from me to question the Guardian's accuracy and reliability

soggy biscuit Looking at the Swansea forum their fans would appear to be quite happy at the prospect of him leaving, though do question who could take over.
They are quoting him saying he only wanted to be there 2 years anyway and they have 1 win in the last 10 games and they say their style is awful.

soggy biscuit Not sure, most of their fans seem to just be saying there is no passion and commitment any more. Saw some comments there around basically being terrible all this season yet Michu saved them a few times in the seasons early games, had he not they would be bottom.
I am sure many of the clubs down there could do the old 'if x hadn't happened...' stuff though. Easy when you want to be negative I guess.

I'm just wondering if Europe is hindering them - nobody seems to have a good word to say about the Europa League (bar Chelsea fans)....
Fulham are another team that shouldn't be where they are, with the players they have....

I really don't get this attitude. Who really do Fulham have? Stekelenburg, Hangeland, Bent. That's it in terms of real quality.

YateleyRoyal Not really. Berbatov i'll admit, I forgot about him, but he hasn't exactly looked up for it this year before he left.
Duff, Karagounis, Parker and Riise? Aging badly and it shows. Kacaniklic - done nothing really. Dempsey and Holtby have only just arrived so can't really be counted in the argument as to why Fulham are in the position they are. I think my point stands, with only Sidwell that I would add to the list of quality players.

YateleyRoyal Half the team? Where are you getting that?
Berbatov - quality but gone.
Bent - quality, but not playing well.
Sidwell - in form.
Stekelenburg - Injured for long periods
Hangeland - good player.
So it makes plenty of sense as to why they are where they are, as they dont have any real quality...
