NathStPaul Hard to play football against a side that refuse to play football. Not knocking Villarreal, this style of play works for them, but it does make it really hard for the opposition to break them down and create chances.

Ascotexgunner Excellent penalties.....
Win or lose what a bunch of bottle jobs United are. Abysmal. How does Southgates lovechild Rashford get in the England squad. He has never really impressed me.

Maybe a bit OTT here but think he’s overrated to somewhat extent
He has capabilities to perform well but also a tendency to have too many stinkers, just like tonight

URZZZZ De Gea clearly has been an excellent goalie for United but his attempts at saving penalties tonight were pretty pathetic. Almost like having a child in goal - just collapses every time and doesn’t seem to really get close. 36 consecutive penalties have now gone in against him
I’m afraid a more tactically astute manager would probably have subbed him off for Henderson before the penalties were to be taken. Difference between a decent manager and a world class one there

Thats a very tough call to make, you'll end up shattering the confidence of the keeper you take off. The exception to the rule is if you have a penalty saving specialist in your squad, not sure that's Henderson tbh.
The other way to look at it is using the law of averages. Ole would have known De Gea's record on pens and would assume that has to change at some point. Sadly for him it didn't.
Agree on De Gea's penalty saving technique btw, horrendous. Made it so easy for the Villarreal players.

So it's not just me then. He should have been hauled off after that miss. He just did nothing. Really poor management tonight. And to not use your substitutes when you can clearly see your team flagging really was criminal.
