LUX Victor Meldrew Liverpool's result and approach morrored that of Spurs,Norwich,Chelsea and QPR.
It is not a cake walk against these lower level sides and the above teams have been outthought and outfought with the European champions still in the competition by the skin of their teeth.
perhaps, but it's more of a disaster for Liverpool, come off it.
Spurs are going for the Champions League placings, QPR and Norwich just want to avoid relegation and Chelsea are, unfortunately, still in it.
"Disaster"?
Hardly.
A bad result-yes.
When you start a game with Brad Jones in goal,Robinson at left-back,Coates at centre-back and the best English midfielder on the bench I would suggest that the game was seen as giving other players a game, much as QPR did, rather than a full-on attempt to win the competition.
The argument is how else do you find out if players are good enough?
The same approach is often taken by clubs for the League Cup-that is one of the reasons why we have Bradford in the final.
In the case of Spurs and Chelsea it was very much their first teams put out so their attitude needs questioning just as it does with Liverpool,QPR and Norwich.
I don't agree with this approach but that is how it is .
Interestingly with Chelsea Benitez is playing almost a complete first team in every game with very erratic performances.
