winchester_royal So bored of idiot/bent referees ruining good football matches.

The sooner video technology is introduced to the game the better.

Agreed.

Ralph Jolly Ferdinand will be lucky to get away with sarcastically applauding the referee right in his face

yup i think he will get an enforced break next season. probably Fergy too once he`s been interviewed , personally I hate united with a passion so there`s no tears in my house tonight.

If a Madrid player had done that to Van Persie and didn't get sent off Fergie would have gone ballistic.

I actually feel sorry for Man U.

On the other hand, they now know what it's like to be robbed by bad refereeing. We lose 6 points a season in the PL because of biased refereeing favouring the big clubs.

Get a grip no-one died , no-one is up in arms when the decisions go their way.
I see nothing about RVP being offside in the build up to united`s goal

I'm not trying to claim this is a massive travesty of justice, just that an excellent sporting spectacle was ruined by an attention seeking fool who uses a whistle to make up for his undersized penis.

It's daft that in this day and age, a match worth potentially >£30m can be swung so comprehensively by a mistake from one man when technology could easily be implemented for these decisions to be reviewed in real time.

A big shame, because over the two legs United deserved to go through. They can be proud of their efforts tonight.

I think it was ruined by one fella booting another one in the chest to be fair.

NTRoyal Genuinely amazed how many of you think it's a sending off. There was no way it was violent conduct, a high foot absolutely, but there was absolutely no intent to injure Arbeloa (?)

Intent has nothing to do with it.

Dangerous play = red. Rules have changed in the last 5 years or so.

Regardless of whether or not it should have been a red card, I'm sure we can all agree that watching United fall apart was great midweek viewing.

Yep, it was vicious, it was clear from the way Nani's eyes never left the flight path of the ball that he was intending to cause Arbeloa harm.

Retired referee Dermot Gallagher on BBC Radio 5 live: "[The decision was] harsh to say the least but in fairness the Real player did Nani no favours whatsoever. At worst Nani catches the underside of his arm, certainly not the ribs as the guy has gone down and shown.

"I can't reiterate enough that he [Nani] is watching the ball over his shoulder, there was no malice in him. At worst it was a yellow for dangerous play, but if I was refereeing that game I cannot se what stretch of the imagination where I would have sent him off for that."

Intent has nothing to do with it - he was totally reckless.
