Kitsondinho Gonna take more than getting rid of Moyes to turn the rot around though...

Exactly.

Appoint Van Gaal and he still has only half a team.

Van Gaal would get RVP firing again, and would attract much better prospects that Moyes would to the club.

Nope, the fitness coach that Moyes inexplicably sacked and that any sane manager would re-hire immediately will get RVP firing again.

It's funny how when Moyes backs up a poor performance he's delusional but when Mourinho does it he's a genuis and deflecting attention away etc. When every other manager spunks good money on crap players they're acceptable errors they all make, but when Moyes gets to bring in only two players (one an excellent buy, presumably for the way he wanted to mould United, the other one his predecessor wanted as well) he's a wasteful idiot.

The senior players have failed him. They've taken their foot off the pedal in a way that Fergie would never have allowed them and after 27 years ruling the roost I think that was always going to happen with the likes of Ferdinand, Evra, Nani and even Vidic, let alone the young celebrity players like Young. They've been given room to breath and an excuse to fail. They've taken it and Moyes has paid the price.

His biggest failing was not winning over the players quickly enough and picking up the pace and bringing in more top quality players so that they didn't have the excuses and room to breath. It doesn't sound like the club helped him much on that front with Gill leaving at the same time as Fergie.

The main criticism that I think stands up is that he wasn't aggressive enough in his tactics. That was the United way and the Fergie way. The club appointed a manager with a much more defensive mindset though and once they did that I think they owed it to him to give him the time and the tools to make the team his own.

I wonder just exactly how 'loyal' to DM, rather than his own agenda Giggs (died in the wool red admittedly) really was? It seems to me at least, that the senior professionals, especially the ones in the twilight of their careers never really bought into the change, like turkeys voting for christmas perhaps?

Rooney didn't like him did he? I wonder whether some of the players like him, Ferdinand and Giggs etc were perhaps a bit vocal in the dressing room and not happy with his appointment - a bit like Terry, Lampard et al when Benitez took over at Chelsea.

Klopp declares himself 'out' of the running for the Utd job.

'There are about 1000 reasons why I'm so happy to be working here.'

Number 37: Not having to pay through the nose for a decent meal that's not a Wetherspoons.

Newcastle lose for a 6th consecutive game, their worst run in 27 years. Pardew out banners litter the away end.

Never thought I'd type these words but I feel really sorry for him. No way back now & can see Moyes going there TBH.

TBM How the fcuk are they still 9th though

Because for the first 23 games of the season Pards was actually doing a pretty good job.
So good a job that Ashley was able to sell their best player, and not have to worry about buying a replacement. The squad they had was probably not good enough to
break into the European places, and they'd amassed too many points to worry about relegation so he cashed in and allowed Newcastle's season to peter out to the max.

After 23 games they had 37 points.
Sold Cabaye.
Last 13 games. 9 points.

40 points is often touted as enough to just about survive relegation so we might expect 8th, 9th, 10th to have way more than that but in recent years:
2012-13: 8th = 49 points
2011-12: 10th = 47 points
2010-11: 8th = 49 points

It's the transition from a Top 4 to a Top 6/7 imo.
Between 1995/6 (change to 20 team league) and 2009/10 the minimum benchmark for a top 10 spot was usually 50 points. (Exceptions: 2007-8 WHU got 49, 2004-5 AV got 47, 2001-2 Blackburn got 46 and 1998-9 Leicester got 49)

For the first 15 years of the 20 team PL 11/15 times you needed 50 points to get in the top half. The last 4 seasons (including this one) have firmly put to bed this previous trend.

..which also explains why there's often so many teams in the relegation battle too.

Read online earlier that Spurs' top target for the job is Pochettino from Saints....

Ajax say Spurs have made an approach to talk to Frank De Boer - his coaching staff include a certain Mr Bergkamp. Oh how I would LOL if De Boer joined Spurs and took Bergkamp with him!!
