Avon Royal The ref was clearly a cheat - but who cares!

Agreed, hope UEFA will see sense and overturn Abidal's red card

Alivey I hate chelsea, such a plastic club.

So do I - but not for that reason. Mainly for the way they handled the Hunt/Cech incident. Not allowing Hunt to see Cech...lies about the ambulance service...saying it was deliberate...etc

Avon Royal
Barcelona is probably the least "plastic" club in the world.

Barcelona are fairly un-plastic, but a better candidate for least plastic would be Athletic Bilbao

Do you have to be born in the town to play for them ?

wikipedia Athletic only signs professional players native to one of the seven Basque provinces: Biscay, Guipúzcoa and Álava, Navarre; and Labourd, Soule and Lower Navarre in France, although in recent times some players born in Cantabria and La Rioja, close to the Basque Country have played for the team.

Interesting to read all the comments on here and on the radio today.
I went to the game-the noise levels were good and the game was exciting more for what was at stake.

As a neutral I didn't get caught up in all the penalty controversies and felt that the two in the first half near us were nothing much-Malouda was a bit soft and Drogba didn't have control of the ball.
The hand-balls and the sending-off were down the other end so we had no idea whether they were right or not.

For Chelsea not having the away goal it was a difficult choice for the manager and broadly they allowed Barcelona the freedom to attack them whilst getting nine men behind the ball.
Barcelona are very much like Arsenal of last season-always trying to score the perfect goal so many of their intricate passes were cut out by Chelsea's packed defence.
Playing on the break Chelsea made enough chances to have won the game without needing penalties and of course the 4 minutes of added time was broadly Drogba time for the non-injuries.

Diving or over-reaction to tackles was about the same for both sides and the ref tended to blow for everything whereas in the first legs of these semis the refs did the opposite when the likes of Ronaldo were falling over,a policy of "get on with it".
Bearing in mind that Chelsea were at full strength whereas Barcelona were three short it was a great opportunity for Chelsea which they blew.

I have always felt that Drogba is some player and is possibly Chelsea's most important player but Chelsea fans are embarrassed by his antics and the added minutes for his "injuries" came back to bite them.
Incidentally I have never seen Chelsea play so deep at home and (easy after the event I know)I felt beforehand that they should have gone for it as they had to score anyway to win the tie and although they could well have been caught out at the back they might have won 2-1 say or 3-2 and gone through.
It is the final that most people wanted now and with Man Utd they really don't have the players to sit back too deep and as current Euro champs they will probably feel obliged to take the game to Barcelona and in doing so will leave more room for Barcelona to play so unlike last season it could be a good final.

They should really be banned from Europe for a season given how Ballack and Drogba behaved and also how their fans, not for the first time, sent death threats to the referee.

LOL at anyone seriously suggesting that Chelsea should be banned from Europe for a season. Their players might well have gone over the top but, in all reality, should a club be thrown out of a competition because of that? Ridiculous.

Barcelona did not impress over two legs and if they are as toothless in Rome on May 27th, I would expect the final to be every bit the mismatch the game in The Emirates on Tuesday was. I really really really hope United do a job on them. Really really.
