Extended-Phenotype It’s what happens to any ‘little’ team that plays passing football. Eventually, people work them out and stop playing against them like they are fodder – the result is proper games of football being played against them.

I don’t see them staying up next season.

That and the sharks start circling for their better players and even if they do stay, think Shorey, their heads are turned and no longer have the same hunger. Next season will be a big test for Brendan. I wish him all the best though and maybe RFC's 2007/8 season may help him avoid second season syndrome.

They have been found out, teams just close them down when they try to pass in there own half. Till a pass will eventually go astray. Thay don't have a plan B. I don't believe they are playing for there holidays as the last thing you want is to finish the season with a straight run of defeats as that carries over to next season.

Without the Sig they would be well and truly in the mix for relegation - a fantastic signing at just the right time.

Good win against Blackburn helps them to 42 points. More than comfortable but I genuinely believe they'll find it harder next year.

It will be very interesting to see if there is any movement of players out of Swansea in the close season.

Jackson Corner They don't have a plan B

That is Rodgers' biggest problem. He never had a plan B at Reading either.

I agree with the predictions of struggles for Swansea next season.

I love what he's done there but you have to wonder if this is just about as high as his stock could get with a club such as Swansea, so there's a distinct possibility his agent will be putting out some feelers right now...

Without Jason Roberts we'd probably not be celebrating tomorrow.

Massive credit to BMcD for the JR signing - why wouldn't the same credit go to BR (and that's from a confirmed BR hater)

Nobody's saying Brendan shouldn't take credit for signing Gylfi - will he be there next season though? Will Roberts be at Reading? Swansea were playing well before Christmas though so with more funds potentially available this summer they might be able to sign a similar (but lesser) playmaker and be 'alright'.

Basically...and whichever way you look at it....a brilliant loan deal.....and a brilliant bit of long term business for both Hof$enheim and Swansea

At Brendan's press conference a couple of days ago, he was massively complimentary towards the football club, the players, SJM and Brian, and no "of course, I had a hand in it" bigging himself up; showed he still cared about the club and its employees, and is either a brilliant actor, or harbours no bitterness towards his sacking. Showed a lot of class imo

Didn't he go out on the booze with SJM on the day he got fired?

He still says he's a fan as well doesn't he?

I have no beef with him what so ever.

He tried, it didn't work, we all moved on for the better...

I genuinely think the way he left was mutual, he needed money because he didn't have the players we needed and we couldn't give it. End of.

Harbours no ill will from me, would have preferred it worked out tbh

I don't like him as a person a great deal (how he came across etc), but I respect him as a manager and harbour him no ill-will. He didn't do a good job for us, he suffered the consequences. He's still one of the Reading crowd.

If he wants to come back and manage us into the Champions League when McDermott takes over from Wenger, that's fine by me.

I saw that press conference & I found him to be a smug little pcunt. Said the right words but not really said with any feeling at all IMO & still came across like a condescending, patronising, arrogant pr1ck. Can't stand him sorry.

not really, BR's is increasingly an arrogant so and so. Well he was 2 months when Swansea were winning.

Matt Mills is a good player, he's just a bit mental. It's really got nothing to do with the chairman not 'trusting' him with any more money - the funds simply weren't there. Not really heard anything about Mills being a tosser before his Reading antics, although I'll admit I really hadn't heard that much about him at all.

Don't really follow Leicester, but didn't another decent manager spunk a load of money on Mills and proceed to get himself the sack?

I agree with sentiments that they could struggle next season, without Sig. Second Season Syndrome is very real and completely understandable. Clubs need to be prepared for it. If we have a good first season, I hope we're prepared for it after our last experience.

But that really underlines the importance of the 'Reading' signings. As BMcD says a lot, it's about the group and how players fit into that group. Mills clearly didn't fit that profile and BR (nor Sven) didn't seem to the same amount of store by that philosophy.

Yes, where Mills has performed badly, getting sent off more than once, got into a bust up with his new manager and been put on the fringes to be got rid of asap. He may have been rehabilitated back into the team when no one wanted him in January.

He's received 7 red cards... that's more than one a season if you discount the ones where he's played less than a dozen games!
