No Fixed Abode Lucas out for two months. Such a shame as if he was fit Liverpool would win the league.

Bit of a bold prediction from you Kes.
Clearly they have an outside chance but I rather think that Man City are favourites followed by either Arsenal or Chelsea.
Where do you think your Man Utd will finish as they slide down both the Premier League and the richest club list?

So Liverpool are after cheaper ticket prices for their FA Cup game against Arsenal. Spurs had to pay £62 upwards for Adult tickets for their 3rd round tie. Why should Liverpool be any different?

Think of the fans, not the pounds

Following tonight's draw, another exciting FA Cup tie awaits with Arsenal drawing Liverpool at the Emirates. Having already played there this season we are only too aware that this will be another extremely expensive fixture for the match going fans. Since the draw took place we have been in dialogue with the Arsenal Supporters Trust and Arsenal's Black Scarf Movement and have sent the letter below to both Arsenal and Liverpool.

For the Attention of:

Ian Ayre, Managing Director, Liverpool Football Club
Phil Dutton, Head of Ticketing and Hospitality, Liverpool Football Club
Ivan Gazidis, Chief Executive, Arsenal Football Club
Ivan Worsell, Ticketing and Services Director, Arsenal Football Club

Dear All,

Following tonight's draw, we are writing on behalf of our members and all Liverpool fans to ensure that the match goers are treated in the fairest way possible for this fixture.

The league game saw Liverpool fans charged £62 per ticket for a fixture played on a Saturday evening. The cost of the match along with the late kick off saw many fans priced out and for those who went there were many difficulties using public transport to get home. We have been informed by Arsenal supporters that if we receive a 9,000 ticket allocation at Category A prices, this would mean that ticket prices could range from £62 to £93 for Liverpool Supporters.

Taking these factors in to account, we ask that the following be considered:

Kick off time

It is highly likely that this match will be televised. We are aware that the clubs don't get to decide the kick off times, however you are consulted. In fairness to the fans we would ask that the consideration is given to those who need to travel considerable distances at great expense. The league fixture on 02/11/13 saw many LFC fans having to use rail replacement bus services to get home from a 5.30pm kick off on the Saturday evening. Clearly no consideration was given to those who actually attend the match from those setting kick off times. We ask, that on our behalf, you push to make sure that we are not in a similar position again where fans will experience similar difficulties.

Ticket prices

As we have already have highlighted in a statement made by ourselves (http://www.spiritofshankly.com/news/rec ... rangements) and in dialogue with both Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC, Liverpool fans have already been charged 72% more than Everton for the league matches that have been played this season and we believe that this is completely unreasonable. Coventry's FA cup tickets were priced at £25.50 and we would request that tickets are priced in the same manner. Similarly, in the event that this match ends up being replayed at Anfield, that a similar arrangement is reached with our ticket prices. You may note that the Black Scarf Movement have also issued a statement in relation to ticket prices for this fixture (http://www.blackscarfafc.co.uk/bsm-call ... thing.html).

We also note that in accordance with FA Cup rule 22 (b) (iii), each club will receive 45% of the gate revenues. Such an arrangement, we feel, provides an opportunity for flexibility in the pricing structure that would assist fans and mean neither club is at a financial disadvantage to each other.

Allocation

In line with the FA rule (21. (a)) we ask that both clubs ensure that we are granted the full 15% allocation for this fixture.

We look forward to hearing from you on this important matter and we are keen to discuss this issue with yourselves further to reach a solution, especially given the short time available ahead of the fixture and possible ticket sales.

Regards

James McKenna

I suspect Spurs knew they'd sell their allocation regardless of price and since the away side gets a cut of gate receipts in Cup Ties it would be a bit daft of them to try and negotiate lower ticket prices when they're complaining about a reduced allocation anyway.

There's plenty to moan about with Liverpool but a supporters club trying to get reduced ticket prices for their supporters seems to be an odd one to choose Kes.

Liverpool will get a cut of the gate receipts too. If Arsenal had drawn Chelsea the ticket prices would have remained the same. Why are Liverpool playing the victims here. We know the ticket prices are high but Liverpool shouldnt get reduced prices just because they're moaning about it.

Exactly, which is why criticising them for trying to get a fairer deal for their fans seems a bit odd. It's usual for prices to be negotiated between clubs for cup games because allocations and distribution are different. Just because Spurs and hypothetically Chelsea don't/might not doesn't mean other clubs shouldn't as Coventry have already demonstrated.

Trying to get the fans they represent a better deal on ticket price is hardly playing the victim mate. Coventry no doubt did the same and Spurs may or may not have negotiated on price but they did around allocation numbers.

Frankly (Mr Shankly) anything that tries to bring ticket prices down is a good thing for all football fans.

I agree ticket prices are way too high.

However, Coventry wasn't a Cat A game, so different scenario really. If they reduce the ticket prices for Liverpool will Arsenal then reimburse the Spurs fans for the difference? After all, its only fair.

It's not a CAT A game though. It's an FA Cup tie that Arsenal are charging a Cat A price for. There's no League game category at Arsenal where fans can get a ticket for 25.50 so it's irrelevant. We've frequently played teams in cup competitions who are in the same division and been charged different price for League and cup games.

Like I said it's a negotiation. Spurs tried to negotiate on allocation because as a club they seemed to be ok with the price.

I still can't see what you see the problem is with Liverpool trying to negotiate a better price for their fans other than the obvious attempt to wind up the board's Liverpool followers.

Is TMK actually trying to claim it is a bad thing that a club is trying to make football more affordable for its supporters?

I can only assume he's missing King Of Sting/Anfield Kopite/Jay because I really can't see why else he's got a problem with it.

Like I said, they charged Spurs the same. So Liverpool must be charged the same of Spurs. Whether they don't 'officially' have Cat A games for the FA Cup is either here nor there. It's obvious ticket prices would be less for Coventry as the demand wouldn't be so great, especially for home fans.

I totally agree the prices are too high. But what you don't seem to understand is, why should Liverpool fans pay less than Spurs fans (if Arsenal agree to lower prices)?

Liverpool aren't asking to pay "less than spurs fans".

Because it's an 'unofficial' Cat A game in the FA Cup.

If I went to the O2 arena, I wouldn't expect to pay less than everyone else to see Iron Maiden. If it was too expensive I wouldn't go.

You're having a bit of 'mare here bud.

You must really love the January sales . "Sorry I'm not paying half price for that as its not fair on those that paid full price 3 weeks ago"

I'm not the one comparing the Jan sales to a football match

I've never known a club have 'January sales' on tickets. Tickets are generally priced before the season starts.
