If we're giving McCleary, an unproven at premiership level, £15k a week then I'd gamble that wages wouldn't be too much of a problem. Surely we could fork out the fee for Gylfi?

Although 15k a week is a bit different to the 50-60k a week Gylfi will end up on.

If he wants that much per week then there is no way Swansea will get him.

True Sandman. If we were to sign him surely he would be wanting in excess of £35,000 and thats got to be double anyone else in the squad??

I'd be suprised if they could afford to pay him that much either.

They can afford 25k, so it all depends if they can stretch it, or if he'll take a cut

The club will not spend money it doesn't have. Do we have £8m to spend on Gylfi? Judging by the last time we were in the Prem under Madejski, no. If the PL got their asses in gear and approved the takeover then we could probably afford £8m. If we were genuinely interested in signing him we would have heard something by now, rumours or anything.

Gylfi said... 'There are no other offers — nothing,'

'I've just been concentrating on Swansea.

'Speak to Brendan or (chairman) Huw Jenkins (about my future) — it's not something I'm concentrating on at the moment.'

Sigurdsson also praised the manager Brendan Rodgers:

'He's a terrific coach, he showed that when he was at Chelsea and Watford and he's done really well at Swansea,' added Sigurdsson.

He'd be cheap at ten times that price. I'm sure some/most of the other players would consider donating their wages to a Gylfi fund to pay for him.

I reckon Swansea will nab him, he will do one more season there then move on.

Not sure if the top 6 will plump for him just yet

OOOh so he didn't think he was much of a coach at Reading then?!!

It would be hard to say he showed he was a good coach at Reading, when under his tenure we went from promotion contenders to relegation fighters. It would just make Gylfi look stupid. He said he showed it at those clubs, not that he was only good at those clubs.

Its to my understanding that when Hammond sold Gylfi to Hoffenheim that there was a 50% release clause put in place. Now Swansea could put in a bid of £10Million and Reading £6Million, and our £6Million is worth more to Hoffenheim, than Swansea's £10Million. This if it is true and I'm certain it is, would be a major coop and some great work by Sir Nicky Hammond
