NathStPaul I love nothing more than an outside the box volley that rattles in off the crossbar. Think my favourite ever was Tony Yeboah v Wimbledon.

Not what I consider the best goal, just my favourite of the type of goal I mentioned.

any goal that goes in off the underside of the crossbar, bounces down and then goes up again into the roof of the net should be worth more than 1 goal. maybe 1.5 goals.

Huge fan of Rivaldo's overhead kick against Valencia. Barca needed to win in order to get Champions League football I believe and he popped up in the dying stages with a goal like that.

I remember watching that live and I swear I remember a big deal was made of Sol Campbell being there too as a guest of Barcelona as they were trying to sign him. But I can never find any record of that happening on the internet

that is a great one.

Philip Mexes is the one I always throw into conversation as it seems to always get overlooked. he is a centre back FSS!

I think after every goal there should be a matrix and calculations of the difficulty of the goal and the player position, taking all it into account

"Tim Howard scored from a goalkick, 4 goals"

"Oh look another tap in by x. 0.75 goals"

Winston Biscuit How the F has this been voted EFL goal of the season?!

https://twitter.com/EFL/status/1650241962648141826?t=tta4o78RnLb-V8zVd-zKtA&s=19

Whilst good, I don't think it is GotS worthy at all.

Agreed.
That type of goal IMHO is just aiming at a target from long range with sometimes no keeper to worry about or at least a keeper way off his line (see also, Naim, Beckham, Bentley etc.).
Scored one myself at Coley Rec about 100 years ago and at least the ball was heavier than they are now.

Yep, thats a great goal.

Also off the top of my head;

- Sunderland's 3rd v Reading
- Fornah's v someone at the beginning of the season, can't remember who, but it was a volley from outside the box that rocketed in.

Good goal, but it was against a team who can't defend to save their lives, so that makes it slightly less impressive.

Although up until that game we had only conceded 2 goals at home from 4 games and conceded 11 in 8 games overall (8 coming in only 2 games, so otherwise 3 in 6), so we were playing much better than we are now.

He would’ve been offside anyway, but he should’ve been putting it away in case

If Arsenal hold on at the top, they will become only the second side of the Premier League era (with Leicester) to have won the title having started the season with double figures odds to win the league, having been a best 40/1 in August.

Nah. Ball sitting up nicely so he had a relative age to set himself and it was into a more or less empty net
