Frankly i dont blame him. Is there possibly a worse place to spend an evening than in the company of footballers oxf*rd themselves over how wonderful and important they are?
I'm sure Dirk enjoyed himself though.

TheMaraudingDogDirk Gently People were seriously pissed off that Ronaldo couldn't be arsed to turn up - and also that in the video they did he couldn't be arsed to dress up smartly. It was seen as arrogant and disrespectful to his fellow professionals.
Maybe the FA shouldn't schedule such an event 2 days before a CL Semi.
MASSIVE training session for United Monday morning, last one before the game. You don't want your best player turning up ragged after a late night trip back from London.

wolsey Why not have it in the North West (where most of the recipients are likely to be based) , and make it an alcohol-free event (thus stressing the professional elemnt)
Then see how many turn up!
Silver Fox As they said during the game on Saturday Kes, hardly any Chelsea players have managed more than 20 games this year, so no great surprise they didn't make the team of the year
Plus none of them should be in it anyway
