For purely selfish reasons I would like Saints to stay up because if we get relegated I have a short journey for once rather than having to go to Leicester or Sheffield. If we stay up I still have Pompey.
I used to admire Southampton for surviving at the top level for so long on gates of 15,000,for beating Man Utd in an FA Cup final and for beating Man Utd 6-3 not so long ago on the infamous grey shirt afternoon.
Since moving to the bigger ground they have become more plastic than us or Wigan and somebody somewhere has lost a load of money (sales of Kenwynne Jones,Gareth Bale and Walcott alone have brought in over £20 million to the club plus 2 years' worth of Premier parachute payments) rendering them skint and unable to buy players.

I have a lot of friends who are long-term Saints fans and I feel sorry for them personally but those that have run the club so badly, after all those years of prudence and good housekeeping, have questions to answer.

***PEDANT MODE ON***

The infamous grey away shirt match was 3-1 Southampton, 95/96. I believe the 6-3 match was the next season.
