Big Foot
Victor Meldrew
Huntley & Palmer Is it safe to say that Newcastle have the worst transfer record on players in the Noughties?

Ginola and Albert weren't bad nor was that bloke Shearer but in recent times their record has been abysmal.

Craig BeLOLLOLamy

LOLauren Robert

Patrick KLOLuivert

Craig Bellamy and Lauren Robert were not exactly bad signing. They of course had their attitude problems but both players were key in the Bobby Robson era. After he left they were shite though. Patrick Kluivert was free so cant be looked on as that bad although he was shite and on big wages.

The real bad signings were the likes of...

-Carl Cort 8m
-Fabrizio Coloccini 10m
-Jose Enrique 6m
-Joey Barton 5.8m
-Albert Luque 10m
-Michael Owen 18m
-Emre 4m
-Boumsong 8m
-Titus Bramble 5m
-Hugo Viana 8.5m

Add to that a load of shite that cost around 2m or so each and it quickly adds up to near 100m on players that havn't done an awful lot. Signings like Smith and Duff who cost around 6m each look good on paper but the pair have either been injured or played rubbish.

Although some good players have been signed they seem to get sold on for a similar amount they were signed for; Woodgate, Parker, Jenas, Martins (will be sold in summer) and N'Zogbia (a massive profit was made on him).

To be honest the only thing you can do is LOL. If anyone wants a good laugh just have a look at their transfer record on soccerbase.

Its the wages of these signings that add little but cost a fair bit that add up.

The Newcastle united versions of Bennett, Sodje and Mooney, if you will.

Hugo Viana
Jean-Alain Boumsong
Celestine Babayaro

There's three more.

Edit: Viana and Boumsong mentioned above!

And they DON'T have a relegation clause in their players' contracts, since Newcastle's opinion of themselves is so high that they never thought it possible they could be relegated.

I think they were also the 5th highest biggest spenders in the season before last.

Oops!

Indeed - all you do by spending big is increase the risk of things going disastrously wrong if you don't get success. And now the black and white chickens are coming home to roost....

That is very different from saying that spending big ensures success.

Got sent this about 2 hours ago.......

UNBELIEVABLE,Only the magpies could get away with this........Some eagle eyed geordie twat has noticed that their points tally is wrong by a single point which means they should actually go above Hull in the final league table.........For some obscure reason the draw they played against West Brom in November did'nt go on their points tally.......Check it out on the offical Newcastle site..........It's right.......The mags appealed to the FA late last night,IF their claim is upheld it will send Hull down..............

Carlsberg don't do texts for stupid geordies but if thay did.......This would probably have been the best text in the world !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MiniRoyal Newcastle asking price = £100M

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 088840.stm

Interested parties should contact Newcastle United at admin@nufc.co.uk (or Keith Harris at Seymour Pierce) for further details.

Reads like an ad in the evening post.

http://www.thespoiler.co.uk/index.php/2 ... ant-to-buy -newcastle-send-them-an-email

BBC Gossip Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has had offers of £10, Oasis tickets and a Curly Wurly after inviting offers for the Tyneside outfit by e-mail. The Magpies have been given a £100m price tag.
(Full story: The Sun)

With a wage bill in the region of £200,000 per day I'm not sure I'd part with a curly wurly.

I think a Curly Wurly is an insulting offer. Two Kit Kat fingers at most.

1 Cadbury's button is generous IMO. I'm not talking one of the giant ones either.

Newcastle Utd pay Joey Barton £13,000 per week for his image rights. This money, paid separately from his salary, is paid into an off-shore company on which there is unlikley to be any tax payable whatsoever.

This is common practice but it sticks in the craw that Barton gets so much paid in this way when the guy has a worse image than Hitler.

Some of the figures on here are absolutely astonishing

Makes you wonder if anyone involved in running Newcastle has an ounce of common sense
