The Wigan play-off semi. Won't be beaten at the Madejski Stadium, imho.

Sadly that linked to this clip, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVnQXWqm8Gc&NR=1 forgot how badlt we lost that game. Alos reminded me of what a poor keeper Whitehead was.

I remeber watching him for Colchester against Saints in the League Cup at St. Mary's. Shipped in 7 goals that day. 4 of them were his fault.

Whitehead was a good keeper, what a load of rubbish. Have you forgotten his save at swindon on a tuesday night, a volley about 8 yards out.

He made a few mistakes as do all keepers but in those days he was nowhere near a weak link in our team.

LOL@ the roguier OG, no one wanted us to get promoted, that just summed it up.

Has anyone got any videos of Swindon/Oxford/Aldershot derby games?

I have found the Oxford game, where we lost 2-1 at home.

He was superb away at Bournemouth too

'Thank God Phil Whitehead wasn't injured as was reported before the match. Not that Scott Howie is a bad keeper, but even the Premiership's finest would have struggled to match Phil's form. What still worries me is why we are having to rely on his heroics to stay in matches where we should at least be on a par with the opposition.'

You've got to be insane to remember Whitehead as a useless keeper - he was certainly better than Mautone, Howie, Van Der Kwaak or Bobby; did we have any other keepers around that time? He was no Shaka, for sure, but Whitehead was far from our weak link.

TBF I don't remember much about Whitehead while he was at RFC. Too young back then to properly form an opinion on a player. I do remember him being appaling for Colchester that night, but maybe that was a one-off.

Royal With Cheese Not a last minute winner but beating Plymouth 4-3 at Elm Park did it for me. 4 goals in the last 20 minutes. Still remains the best league match I ever went to.

Without doubt the most dramatic game I have ever seen at EP. An important win against a promotion rival who were on a fourteen game unbeaten run at the time. Just an amazing, amazing second half made possible by one man: Kevin 'Mad Max' Bremner.

IIRC wasn't that one of the first Sky games at the Madejski?
