Quick question, if it goes to pens, do they count towards the golden boot?

Compo's Hat Surely only a matter of time before Spain score. Wonderful to watch and the Germans are just trying to do what all the other teams who've faced Spain have done.

Unlike Portugal ande Paraguay they're trying to score though

And they'll have to now, Puyol 1-0

Gotta say. Thought the Krauts were pretty average and well out-played today. Good luck to Spain. Deserved to win.

Good also that we'll have a "new" winner. Can't have happened since 1978.

(Not forgeting, of course, that the winner will NOT be Argen-fecking-tina. 8) )

It will need an early goal to be any good....it won't get one and it will be utter shite......0-0 and pens.

Well could be, and roughly 80 percent of it'll be contested between the halfway line and the edge of the Dutch penalty area in any case

Spain just don't ever do anything. They were so dull. Germany couldn't get hold of the ball though, so it was effective. Definitely missed Muller. I thought Podolski was fairly poor too.

Shame.

They don't count to the player's career total either. Pens in a shoot out are not 'goals' in that sense and aren;t technically even penalties, they are described as 'kicks from the penalty mark' in the laws of the game.

Really enjoyed that. Spain deserved the win, but Germany have some great players: Schweinsteiger and Ozil had fantastic world cups.

I was always a bit worried what Germany would do if tehy weren't gifted an early goal, and they didn't quite have the forward firepower to go all the way.

Thought Germany were disappointing with Schweinsteiger playing so deep. Spain deserved it with their superb passing..but as a spectacle it was only so so
