Both banned for 8 years. Couldn't happen to a nicer pair!

I don't know why i genuinely felt Blatter might use that press conference to take responsibility and shame and admit some wrongs. He holds the game of football in utter contempt.

Blatter is one of those people who never think they have done wrong. Anything he has done is obviously correct and proper - because it's him that has done it. He'll go to the grave bitter and angry about how the world has mistreated him. Which is nice.

Think he's a bit too old to pull of the Nelly look too. He's properly mental isn't he, still think he's in charge despite the ban.

So good to see this organisation that Havelange built finally collapsing. If only people had acted on Andrew Jennings' investigations 10 years ago...

Never liked Blatter, just something about him that didn't sit right.

Believe the way forward should be through a new world organisation as anything with the name FIFA now carries no respect or trust.

Trouble now is working out who can lead any organisation, just who is trustworthy and would take no crap and be ruthlessly down on any future "shenanigans" like a ton of bricks.

And the first step of any organisation should be to strip Qatar and Russia of the world cups.

And as you'd expect

BBC "Swiss Blatter and 60-year-old Frenchman Platini have also been fined £33,700 ($40,000) and £54,000 ($80,000) respectively.
Both men continue to deny wrongdoing and a spokesman for Blatter confirmed he will appeal against the ban and is prepared to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) in Lausanne.
Platini is expected to do the same.

Why look internally then?

Get in someone from another sport or even business. Someone like Seb Coe or Fred Dineage.

bit of a long read, but the manipulating official is English (Davies) and there is the undercurrent of Coe's business interest meshing with his role as administrator.

Michel Platini: Fifa committee was 'asleep for four years'

Banned Uefa president Michel Platini has accused world football's ethics committee of "sleeping" for four years before barring him from football.

Platini and Fifa president Sepp Blatter were ruled to have abused their positions over a £1.3m ($2m) "disloyal payment" made to Platini in 2011.

Both men are appealing against eight-year bans issued on Monday.

"What was the Fifa ethics committee doing between 2011 when I was paid and 2015?" said Platini. "Was it sleeping?"

In an interview with French media agency AFP, the 60-year-old former France captain added: "Suddenly it wakes up. Ah yes, it wakes up in a Fifa election year when I'm a candidate. It's amazing."

Swiss Blatter, 79 - Fifa boss since 1998 - had already announced he was quitting with a presidential election in February - with Platini, also a vice-president, tipped to succeed him.

Platini has been in charge of Uefa - European football's governing body - since 2007 and was backed in a statement on Monday, with the organisation saying it was "extremely disappointed" with the decision.

He has submitted his candidacy but cannot stand while banned from all footballing activities. Both men are appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Platini said: "I will fight. But then I'll take my responsibilities according to what happens.

"Whatever happens, my reputation has been sullied, I've been kicked in the teeth: I've been put in the same bag as Blatter."

I read the report a few times and came to the conclusion that what Platini was bleating about was that the FIFA Ethics Committee failed to spot that he was as corrupt as Blatter, and on the take from anyone and everyone, 4 Years earlier.

An odd defence I'd suggest........

But then the ethics committee had problems spotting anyone was corrupt 4 years ago. Probably didn't even meet together until about 6 months ago for some reason....

Jerome Valcke sacked by FIFA....................for the 2nd time!!

Unbelievable that an employee can get sacked for gross misconduct that cost his employer $90M, and is then re-employed a Year later!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35301028

World football's governing body Fifa has dismissed secretary general Jerome Valcke.

The Frenchman, 55, was provisionally suspended from football for his alleged involvement in a scheme to profit from the sale of World Cup tickets.

He was released from his duties on 17 September after being accused of a series of Fifa ethics code breaches.

Appointed in 2007, the former right-hand man of Fifa president Sepp Blatter has denied any wrongdoing.

"The duties of the secretary general will continue to be assumed by the acting secretary general, Dr Markus Kattner," read a Fifa statement.

Fifa's ethics committee said on 7 January that it had decided to open "formal adjudicatory proceedings" against Valcke after studying a report submitted by its investigatory chamber.

Valcke has also been accused of being party to a potential £6.8m ($10m) bribe paid to Jack Warner, the former head of the North and Central America football governing body Concacaf, in return for his vote and backing to South Africa's successful bid to host the 2010 World Cup.

Fifa's ethics committee has already recommended that Valcke should be banned from all footballing activities for nine years.

Blatter and vice-president Michel Platini were both suspended for eight years in December following a Fifa ethics investigation.

Valcke has now been sacked twice by Fifa.

He joined the organisation in 2003 as director of marketing and TV, but was dismissed in 2006 over a scandal involving its long-time sponsorship partner Mastercard.

He was found to have negotiated with Mastercard's rival Visa in violation of the former company's right of first negotiation, which cost Fifa $90m (£61.3m) in a settlement.
