Sanguine And yeah, Newcastle. They've built one hell of a team.

Agreed, fantastic watch

Pace, power and aggression all over the pitch. Howe has done a fantastic job

Unlike most of the other top teams, they don’t rely on suffocating the other team of possession to win games. Much better spectacle than side to side passing

paultheroyal Officiating was excellent over the weekend and rightly the referee's seem to be backed. Make the laws clear, laws rather than guidelines and its quite a difference. Maybe powers will be will learn from this and apply in other areas where the game needs sorting out.

Yeah

Perhaps they should make it clear on the repercussions of goalkeepers punching the opposition players on the head?

Yeah literally last kick of the game on the weekend fixtures they get one woefully wrong. Clear penalty for me.

Something tells me they won't choose to release the VAR audio for that one.

Surprised with Carragher's comments last night and could understand why he was not sent to the monitor. Often have to be careful with these decisions regarding goalkeepers, but that was so obvious last night, typical cliche, but if that happened anywhere else on the pitch its a clear foul, and they were drawing comparisons to Martinez one where he got booked, ie come out, missed challenge, tugged shirt.

In a sensible world that decision would be the end of VAR, seriously what is the point of it?

I think it is a good tool to have for off the ball serious foul play, referees cannot have eyes in the back of their heads. For everything else I agree with you 100%, it is a waste of time and is damaging the game. Complete farce.

Would agree with the above as well. Only other thing I would include it for is mistaken identity instances.

It's mad how, when a poor VAR decision is made, people forget the 90%+ situations where it helps get the correct decision.

90% isn't a very high number when you consider you have 3 people watching a slow motion video clip on repeat. It should be 100% or not at all.

If Wolves are relegated by 2 points will they thank VAR for being correct 90% of the time? It has stitched them up good and proper.

How many of those correct decisions would the refs be getting right if they weren't just saying "sod it, I'll let VAR decide"?

I recall that there was a quote going around before VAR that refs would get 95% of decisions correct.
If that were so, then VAR really is a waste getting 90%. It would suggest it’s no better than simply letting the referees get on with it

Only caught the end of the report on the radio but I thought I heard that the ref's VAR boss has apologised to Gary O'Neill.
Brighton had a few apologies last season but points in the Premier League are worth £millions so better outcomes should be expected and apologies not needed.

Have just seen that the refs have been dropped for this weekend's Premier League games.
Not much consolation for Wolves and Man Utd must be laughing their heads off.

Ummm.... but the ones that go to VAR are generally the 5% the refs HAVEN’T got right.

Based on the standard of reffing before VAR and in lower divisions about 10%

Thing I learned today (that I probably should have known already) - Forest home games may be rearranged to avoid a clash with cricket matches at Trent Bridge, which is why Forest are playing tonight despite not being selected for TV.

I guess it's reasonably obvious but, like you, hadn't really twigged that was the case

Wrexham shipping goals for fun at home again. That's 11 in 2 1/2 games.

True, but having to score 4 goals to get anything out of a game is unsustainable.
