winchester_royal The scary thing is that the Huddersfield fans are celebrating the decision.

Lesson learnt for me & many others I guess. Don't judge how a football club is going by league position and the odd minor headline. Their fans couldn't be happier that he is gone.

Why was he so unpopular with some fans?

Like you I had no idea... (and still don't in my case.)

From what I can gather:

Spunked loads of money on average players
Not playing gr8 football
Despite the record breaking run loads were draws

Indeed he was sacked not because of results, but because of him being a complete prick.

I think we parted company with him because he told Madejski he wanted an infusion of funds in the window to save our season; Madjeski said, but I already gave you your budget, including getting on for 2m for Mills whom you're not playing; basically, Madejski disagreed with Rodgers about how we would be able to survive--and after the Burns fiasco he didn't want to end up throwing money away at high risk. I didn't think Rodgers was a prick; he was a true Reading man, and he's since proved that he can manage; but if he told the chairman he needed more cash (than agreed) to survive, he had to go: that way lies ruin.

tasty atmosphere coming up when they visit in a couple of weeks. big game for them playing catch-up, and the usual anti warnock goings on.

martin allen sacked by notts county.

they've been on a poor run recently but sacking him seems a little harsh. he was brought in to keep them up last season and did, albeit by three points. this season he was hopeful of a top half finish and they are on course for that, but recent poor form has lead to the board sacking him. they're 8 points off the play-offs.

I suspect there is more to it than recent form.

i'm not sure brighton fans will be happy to hear gus poyet so openly speak about wanting the spurs job.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... Spurs-test

it's not the first time this season he's expressed an eagerness to take a premier league job as the first available opportunity either.

Curbs has apparently turned down Wolves. Dunno who they can get in that's gonna help them, certainly not Steve Bruce

It really doesn't matter how loud an idiot Allen is - Spacey still wouldn't hear him.

The one conclusion I draw from this thread is how very fortunate we are in having Brian McDermott as our manager,

Reports of Guardiola replacing Wenger in the summer.

Apparently he'll rather jump before being pushed at Barca

Steve Bruce was only offered the job until the end of the season (13 games) and turned them down as well.

Doesn't change what i said......he wants something long term, something he feels he could get at Arsenal but at Barca the longer he stays the more he starts looking over his shoulder.
