I understand that not only would no-one insure them, they couldn't afford to repair the damge after the last round of flooding.

AthleticoSpizz One for Adi Williams maybe?

Stuart was manager at Didcot and wasn't paid a thing for doing it.

I don't imagine Adi would be the same, Didcot have barely a pot to piss in so I'd be surprised.

On the midweek non-league front, Hungerford Town 0-0 Thatcham Town for me last week, one of the better 0-0 draws I will see. A game dominated by Hungerford against a load fo Reading Town old boys, yet no finishing touch despite some guilt-edged opportunities.

This week for me:

Tuesday - Abingdon Utd v Mangotsfield Utd
Wednesday - Swindon Supermarine v Salisbury City

Ticks two more grounds off the list 8)

All sorts of shit going down at Brommers. Goldberg has left after rumours of folk up top making decisions about team selection and so on. Before Saturdays win, they'd picked up just 16 points from 17 games. Bad times, after what was a record breaking start of 7 wins in a row.

Svlad Cjelli I understand that not only would no-one insure them[Gloucester City] , they couldn't afford to repair the damge after the last round of flooding.

... from what I read at the time on the NL Forum' it was a case of WHAT had flooded onto/into the ground along with the Severn that had rendered it unusable and unrecoverable for the foreseeable future.

They had a season or two at Cirencester's Corinium Stadium and I'm sure a spell at FGR - have now moved in with Cheltenham BUT currently play in the Conference North.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FA Vase 5th Round draw:
Ties to be played - Saturday 12 February
1 Whitley Bay v Dunstable Town
2 Coalville Town v Holbrook Sports or Lancing
3 Torpoint Athletic v Billingham Synthonia
4 Poole Town v Spennymoor Town
5 Leverstock Green v Rye United
6 Leiston v Long Buckby
7 Kings Lynn Town v Gresley or St Neots Town
8 Stansted v Dunston UTS
... some pretty lengthy trips amongst these and four of the 'big-hitters' are drawn together in ties 4 & 7.
I'm looking at Leverstock or Stansted as 'new' grounds to visit within range on the 12th Feb.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not made up my mind on where to go this midweek - there are 2 dozen or more 'local' clubs at home tomorrow (Tue) incl 3 Berks & Bucks Cup Q-Fs:
Marlow v Maidenhead
Hungerford v Didcot (19:30 KO)
Chesham v Beaconsfield
... Wycombe bt Burnham 4-0 in the other tie last week @ Adams Pk.

... as well as a B&B Trophy Q-F:
Sandhurst v Chalfont St Peter

... others at home in their leagues - in no particular order : Windsor, Bracknell, Fleet Town, Burnham, Slough (play @ Beaconfield FC) Hartley Wintney and Ashford T (Mx).

I might stay in the Hellenic Prem for Flackwell v leaders Ardley or Highworth vs 2nd placed Kidlington.

... not such a big choice on Wed - Supermarine is probably the pick but I've been already this season - looking at Bedfont Town v Aylesbury or maybe another B&B Trophy game @ Leighton (current lodging (nest?) of the 'Ducks') for Aylesbury Utd v Wantage. 8)

handbags_harris This week for me:

Tuesday - Abingdon Utd v Mangotsfield Utd
Wednesday - Swindon Supermarine v Salisbury City

Ticks two more grounds off the list 8)

One down:

Abingdon Utd 1-3 Mangotsfield Utd

Mangotsfield, disappointingly lacking Andy Gurney and Michael Meaker from their squad, took the lead around 20 mins, Rendall tapping in after the 'keeper had saved well from an 18 yarder immediately after a short corner, no more than they deserved. Abingdon equalised 10 minutes later after Rendall bottled a challenge and allowed the right winger a clean run to the byline, a low cross allowed Mills to tap home. From then on all Abingdon until half time, but no real clear cut chances created.

Second half, Mangotsfield upped their game and should have scored a hatful after having three one-on-one's saved and somehow contriving to hit the bar from on the goalline. Only two quick, late goals from Groves and Knighton secured victory, although the second was hotly disputed after a clear foul on the halfway line from the Mangotsfield sub.

Good game, well worth the £6, and Sami's kebab house is quite superb.

haven't been to Abingdon Utd for a while, did it look like there had been any recent developments (last couple of years)?

Nice tidy seated area opposite the dugouts, little covered area between the dugouts which allowed easy access to managerial verbals. Clubhouse is easily good enough.

Played there this season. Nice pitch, with a sheltered area to stand, and tidy seated stand aswell. The club house is pretty good aswell.

Someone on here used to follow Didcot.

Do they still have Mauro Perrera?

Windsor & Eton's game at Stag Meadow on Saturday, at home to Tiverton, will almost certainly be the club's last ever game.

This isn't a late white knight job waiting to happen, this is closure.

A new club will be formed, of that I am sure, but whether it is allowed to play at Stag Meadow is unknown as under the terms of the current lease, in the event of closure, the land reverts to The Crown.

I've enjoyed my last couple of years supporting W&E - it'll be very sad to see the club's demise.

A crowd of 71 at Windsor's last home game. Good to see the locals rallying round :roll:

Some people were hacked off at being asked to pay full price again after the same fixture was abandoned due to floodlight failure a few weeks ago, so probably stayed away.

But 71 was poor. Thing is, most fans believe that this is the last week of the club's existence so I guess the enthusiasm is somewhat waning.

Probably the self-same hard-core 71 will be at the new club's first game wherever it might be held...

Oh well, maybe Elton John will give us a few hundred grand over the weekend and solve the problem.

That is sad to hear. I really enjoyed my visit to the Stag on my last trip over.
