Pepe the Horseman Interestingly* after Spurs' great start to the season, they now have exactly the same amount of points as they had this time last season.

What is the comparison in terms of teams played ?

Spurs fans are perhaps getting a bit ahead of themselves.
One fan just phoned in to the radio to say that they would definitely finish in the top 2 this season. :o

The lack of turgid football is probably the biggest thing here.

I appreciate that Celtic in the SPL isn't a great comparison but Postecoglu had Celtic playing some fantastic football last season. Rodgers' team look pedestrian in comparison.

Ange is a brilliant manager.

Worth a note again that after a 3-0 home defeat to Stevenage, Cheltenham have now failed to score in any of their first nine league games. Which surely has to be some sort of record. Their only goal in 11 games in all competitions was an own goal by Bristol Rovers' James Gibbons in their EFL Trophy match.

Edit - the Athletic says that the previous record was eight, set by Halifax Town in 1990-91. This season Cheltenham have had 77 shots on goal, 19 of them on target, but are still yet to find a goal.

Agree I think Postecoglu is a bit of a steal for Spurs actually and I do think he's going to do well there. Definitely a different perception to Conte though as well which must be said.

The modern day world of football stats drives me round the bend. Its all completely meaningless, but it arms teenagers with things to throw into online arguments.

There are industries build on the noise around football these days and its almost all unbearable.

I saw TNT Sports on Twitter call a Jude Bellingham goal a "clutch goal" last week. Get in the bin.

Clutch is quite a common term in American sports broadcasting.

I have always really enjoyed all the football talk in the week between games. But these days its just nonsense stats with no context therefore they are completely valueless, radio shows with people purposely arguing disingenuously over stupid stuff, you go to watch something and its some youtuber saying moronic stuff as negative clicks are better then no clicks etc

I have 2 or 3 podcasts which feel like they are designed for middle aged blokes to hear about the matches and the experience of going, and thats about all I get now

Then it can ****** well stay there.

Clutch is to grasp and hold tightly so just what the **** has it got to do with association football unless you're talking about a goalkeeper making a save.

Stuff Amercanisms in football.
