Royalist Truro to Macclesfield on a midweek?! Yikes!

They made a trip to Margate for a league game, that's further I think. They have some monster trips to the SE for most away games

Fully expecting a 5th successive defeat for Windsor today.

Kyle Hough always seems to score against us plus we aren't very good at the moment.

As TB said elsewhere this week, there's nobody in the team who you want to see on the ball because they make things happen. Every member of the team is hard-working but pretty average.

Finally took in a Salisbury game today and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Cheap tickets and parking, terracing, a good burger, oh and Steve Claridge practically exploding every two minutes.

Saw Peter Castle who was playing for Sholing. He's certainly been eating well since he left Reading!

Ain't football just like that...?

Of course, it was Windsor 2-1 E&E

Some new starters added a little bit to Windsor today, and we looked a better outfit than of late against a team I really thought was likely to give us a bit of a spanking. Well done for upping it today.

Enjoyable game.

Mix of good and poor from the officials which at least is a bit better than we've had in other recent games.

...agreed the RayMac does somewhat stand out for it's facilities at this current level - most probably at the root of why the 'Whites' have been in such godawful strife off the pitch, for over a decade. Had a string of very dodgy owners too I believe.... Council regularly rumoured to have been on the point of bulldozing the whole lot and putting more housing on the site. :?

Crowd of 786 yesterday too. Salisbury trek up to Nuneaton Griff next Saturday, for their Vase 5th Round tie - get through that and their odds will surely start shortening drastically to win the thing.
Indeed if the later draws are kind, we could get a real heavyweight clash at Wembley of two former greats competing for the National STEP05 & below prize. Hereford have a possibly tricksy tie away at local side Hartley Wintney - and I expect there's at least a couple of 'big' Northern hitters left in the competition too - more of that next week.....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
here's a round-up of yesterday's NL results - weather was actually kinder that I thought it would be, with most thawing out and not suffering with too much wet-stuff.
Saturday 23rd December
FA Vase 4th Round
3 Morpeth Town P-P North Shields
6 Sunderland RCA 3-2 Sleaford Town
7 Newton Aycliffe 2-0 Marske United
8 Bowers & Pitsea 3-0 Sutton Common Rovers
Chelmsford City 4-3 Whitehawk
Eastbourne Borough 3-0 Wealdstone
Ebbsfleet United 1-2 Margate
Havant & Waterlooville 1-0 Basingstoke Town bad one to lose but at least ‘Dragons’ stay off the bottom thanks to StAlebuns mauling at Oxford
Hayes & Yeading Utd 1-1 Hemel Hempstead Town
Oxford City 4-1 St Albans City
Sutton United 2-0 Dartford
Truro City 4-4 Maidenhead United Magpies - trailled 3-1 at HT and 4-2 with 10’ left Dave Tarpey got his 3rd and 4th goals on 80' & 89' to grab a point for the visitors.
Worcester Park 1-1 Abbey Rangers
HELLP
Brackley Town Saints 1-4 Ascot United
Highmoor-Ibis 2-0 Kidlington - big win for H/I who had been on a real slump – Kiddy may have had one eye on their Vase campaign which resumes next w/e with a long trip to Cleethorpes. Appears as if they ‘rested’ a few regulars too.
Milton United 2-3 Flackwell Heath
Royal Wootton Bassett 3-0 Oxford City Nomads
Reading Town 1-1 Chinnor
B&B Intermediate Cup Q-F
Finchampstead 1-2 Letcombe AET – Finch exit the cup and have another tough game in the League's Challenge Cup this Tuesday evening, away at Binfield.
Hale Leys United 1-2 Risborough Rangers
WESS1
Alton Town 2-0 New Milton Town
Andover New Street 0-7 {SEVEN} Totton & Eling
East Cowes Victoria 2-3 Pewsey Vale - only Vale’s 2nd win of the campaign – coming immediately after their first (admittedly over a month ago, what with the dreadful weather down in Wilts) - sees them leapfrog Vics and get off the bottom.
Hythe & Dibden 5-1 Fleet Spurs
Tadley Calleva 3-0 Laverstock & Ford
...a few games on locally this midweek but heavy rain is forecast from mid-PM tomorrow (Tue) through to early evening, so the dreaded late P-P may figure largely - especially amongst this weeks Cup matches - which of course will then knock-on into next weeks fixtures.
EDIT - in line with what I'd initially thought somewhat pessimistically ...
.. ALL tonights 'local' NL games are reported Postponed APART from (as at 18:00 Tue) the B&B Trophy Tie at Holmer G v Milton
... and Windsor's CCLP trip to Bedfont Sports - and the Middx Cup Tie next door between Bedfont & Feltham and Woodford Utd
... expect even these three are merely awaiting the 'final sentence' from the respective match refs when they arrive. :|
Being optimistic - here's what's scheduled 'locally' - and not so -involving 'local sides':
FA Trophy 2nd Round
Cheltenham v Oxford City - winners go to Woking on the 6th Feb
NAT
Altrincham v Woking
NATS
Dartford v Wealdstone
Maidenhead Utd v Whitehawk
Havant & W v Bps Stortford
Southern 1 Central
Hanwell v Egham
Southern 1 S&W
Didcot v Burnham
Southern League Cup R3
Potters Bar v Slough
Hants Senior Cup Q-F
Fleet Town v Lymington
Middx Senior Cup Q-F
Ashford Town v Harrow Borough
Northwood v Spelthorne Sports
Surrey Senior Cup R3
Badshot Lea v Merstham
19:30 Knaphill v Chipstead
Combined Counties Premier
AFC Hayes v E&E
Bedfont Sports v Windsor - saw this very fixture a year or two back - November 2013
Farnham v Westfield
Horley v Chertsey
Raynes Pk Vale v Camberley
Redhill v Guildford
Hellenic Floodlit Cup Q-F
Ardley Utd v Flackwell Heath
Carterton v Ascot - (free entry)
Thatcham v Thame
Hellenic Challenge Cup R3
Finchampstead v Binfield at Hill Farm (aka Stubbs) Lane Binfield FC
Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy Q-F
Holmer Green v Milton Utd - slightly tempted by this; if can get down into and back up out of Wycombe in good time-Handy X usually the clincher here - and not too many others nearby to divert to
WESSEX 1
Ringwood v Tadley Calleva
(Wednesday 27th)
Fleet Spurs v New Milton
Been up in Manchester recently, saw Salford beat Buxton 2-0 the other day and last night took in a dull goalless draw between Curzon Ashton and Stalybridge Celtic.
.... as I 'writted' was likely above .... plenty off today. Hellenic seems to have fared better - only Brimscomb v H/I reported OFF so far - when compared to CCL where at least half the Premier programme has already gone and most of Div One ... knew something was amiss locally, when lad's game at Cintra was called off around 8:30 this AM.
Hartley's big Vase game is also off, as is Windsor's trip to Spelly.
In the Southern Sluffs long trip to Bodmin is OFF as are matches at Egham & Godalming in the Central division : Marlow & Diddy's game still on according to the league site in the S&W.
No 'local' games on in WESSEX One - though Andover v Brockenhurst seems to have survived in the Premier section.
HandY's game at Wealdstone is OFF in the NATIONAL South as is Gosports game v Dartford.
My football fix this weekend will be at The Gore to see Windsor's rather exciting U15s team in a County cup semi against Burnham.
Results Saturday 30th Jan
The FA Vase – 4th Rd Proper
3 Morpeth Town P-P North Shields
16 Bodmin Town 1-3 Ipswich Wanderers
The FA Vase – 5th Rd Proper
2 Sunderland RCA 2-3 Bristol Manor Farm – a real upset here for the ‘southern softies’: Brizzle M-F prevailing over many people’s current favourites to lift the thing.
3 Camberley Town 5-0 Newton Aycliffe - storming win for Town over much fancied ‘Newtonians’ from Co. Durham - visitors packed full of recent Vase winners.
5 Cleethorpes Town 1-2 Kidlingtongood to see Kiddy keeping the Hellenic flag fluttering in the Vase too.
6 Nuneaton Griff 0-3 Salisbury
7 Ashford United 1-1 Dunston UTS
- There is quite a groundswell amongst the midland/southern-based fans of NL against the recent predominance of Northern winners of the Vase (Sholing were quite an exception a couple of years back) – with many accusations of sides regularly shunning promotion to keep their chances of taking national silverware.
- The fact the northern-based fans often come on to the NL site bigging up their standard of play and facilities over their southern counterpart, has fuelled the debate. They’ll have very crinkly mouths this AM though, following this set of results, with only two Northern sides in the last eight now : one of those (Dunston from Gateshead: winners in 11-12) still face a tricky replay v Ashford Utd (from Kent) who are no mugs and of course were formerly from much higher up the pyramid themselves
- All quite upsetting for our Northern Anorak fraternity, [Cliché ALERT!!] who are probably out the back kicking their wives/whippets/whatever as I write! Ominously though the other possible survivors are North Shields who are the current holders. I would still expect Hereford or Salisbury to feature in the Final – though both are hardly atypical of southern-based Vase entrants and of course are unlikely to be able to defend it should they win at Wembley, as both are most likely to be at STEP04 in 16-17 hence become ineligible to enter.
NAT
Aldershot Town 1-0 Kidderminster Harriers
Woking 2-2 Barrow
NATN
Brackley Town 0-1 Solihull Moors
NATS
Basingstoke Town 1-2 Ebbsfleet United - very late sickener conceded to league leaders (90’)
Chelmsford City 0-2 Sutton United
Eastbourne Borough 5-2 Bath City
Hemel Hempstead Town 5-5 Weston-Super-Mare - ‘Tudors’ 3-0 up and 4-2 up at H/T – W-S-M fight back to level, then go down to 10 men and fall behind again to level finally on 88’
Maidenhead United 2-2 Havant & Waterlooville
Maidstone United 2-2 Concord Rangers
Margate 1-1 Bishop's Stortford
St Albans City 0-1 Truro City
Whitehawk 2-1 Oxford City
ISTHP
Canvey Island 1-0 Farnborough
Needham Market P-P Staines Town
SOUTHP
Dorchester Town 2-1 Chesham United
Hungerford Town 2-1 Kettering Town
SOUTH1C
Aylesbury United 0-1 Fleet Town
Beaconsfield SYCOB 4-0 AFC Rushden & Diamonds
Chalfont St Peter 0-3 Northwood
- Top two both beaten heavily above and a welcome three points for Fleet at the soggy 'Ducks' – puts some daylight between them and the probable drop-zone
SOUTH1S&W
AFC Totton 2-2 Evesham United
Didcot Town 2-2 Shortwood United
Marlow 0-1 Wantage Town - vital win for ‘Freds’ in the struggle to keep out of the bottom two – looks bad for Burnham the only side below them (other than doomed and STILL pointless Bashley)
Wimborne Town 0-2 Banbury United
Yate Town 1-3 North Leigh – Nor Lye skip over Winchester to return to the play-off spots
CCLP
Ashford Town (Middx) 1-1 Colliers Wood United
Chertsey Town 5-1 Redhill
Cove 0-1 Raynes Park Vale – encouragingly close result for bottom side Cove – who still have only 3 points from their 20 matches this season. Might pop along to Squirrels lane this midweek to see how they get on, when they are scheduled to host Camberley (weather permitting) – could be carnage though…. :?
Sutton Common Rovers 3-2 Bedfont Sports
CCL1
Banstead Athletic 1-1 Sandhurst Town
Frimley Green
4-0 Dorking Wanderers Res
HELLP
Abingdon United 1-5 Thatcham Town
Ardley United 2-3 Thame United
Flackwell Heath 2-0 Lydney Town
Highworth Town 2-2 Ascot United
Milton United 0-3 Tuffley Rovers
Oxford City Nomads 1-1 Brackley Town Saints
Royal Wootton Bassett 0-1 Longlevens AFC
- top two pulling away now with 'Kingfishers' big win at Abingdon keeping them 2 point clear of 'Heathens': - amongst the chasing pack Kiddy were in Vase action whilst Highworth & Ascot shared the points and lose ground.
No real change at the foot with everyone losing, apart from Tuffley who got a vital 3 points at fellow strugglers Milton and Sumas who were in 'losers' Cup action below.
- some loud rumblings emerging that the Hellenic League may go for a 22 team Premier next term, which throws the plight of the bottom six into a new perspective - with not that many sides eligible to come up from Div One
HELL1E
Headington Amateurs 2-2 Reading Town
Hellenic Supplementary 1st Round
Letcombe 1-2 Wokingham & Emmbrook
WESSP
Andover Town 2-2 Brockenhurst
When is the Vase draw
and what's happened at Scours? RT picking up some decent points in recent games...when it looked like a Bashley-like haul would be on the cards
i) Vase: probably tomorrow AM sometime - see link from the official FA site:
http://www.thefa.com/news/competitions/ ... ope-290116
... and I'd forgotten Berkhamsted still await the winners of Morpeth v N.Shields in the 5th Round - which is now scheduled for tomorrow night (Monday 1st Feb) at N.Shields.
That means there are still half of the 5th Round ties to be resolved - all scheduled for NEXT Saturday 6th Feb (includes Hartley Wintney v Hereford - which is all ticket.)
ii) RTFC : no idea - presumably they've gathered in enough players from the middling/upper levels of the TVL to build an outfit with a bit of shape and fight about it - good battling point at Head Ams yesterday too.
Thanx for the Vase stuff....hopefully, they do replays and regardless of the progression thing, HW must really get that draw.....assuming of course that they will get the share of the predicted 3k+ gate at Edgar Street
I'm not sure on Reading Town's little resurgence (I've not seen them play). I don't think there's been a massive change in personnel but they have signed Josh Blackwood who wasn't playing for them earlier in the season. He's the type of attacking player who can make quite a difference and scored in both their wins.
I think the biggest difference is perhaps a bit of discipline and the fact they managed to beat the two of the teams around them at the bottom in Wantage (against 10 men) and Old Woodstock (with 10 men).
Sebastian Any of you ever been to a Hampton & Richmond game? Worth a visit?
... many, many years ago - some Cup Tie vs Newport approx. 01-02 I think - big -ish crowd - ground coped easily - parking a bit of a squeeze around there - think I parked somewhere back near the railway station.
Avoid like the plague if there's any Gee Gees on @ KP that day.....- Tredder is probably your best bet for more useful advice .... if he's still posting??
... and here's the draw for the FA Vase QFs - scheduled for Feb 20th - if they can get all of the previous rounds done and dusted:
Hartley Wintney or Hereford v Camberley Town
Salisbury v Ashford United or Dunston UTS
Berkhamsted or North Shields or Morpeth Town v Bristol Manor Farm
Ipswich Wanderers or Bowers & Pitsea v Kidlington
...I'd like to see most of the teams in bold make up the semis.
Nice little ground. Decent pubs in the vicinity. Good location few minutes walk from the Thames.
Worth trying out Hamtpon and Richmond if only for the childish "come on beavers" shouts
