Starfish Arsenal & Zenit have agreed a price for Arshavin according to this ..

http://www.sportinglife.com/football/ne ... 22820.html

He will suit the way arsenal play to be honest

Apparently Arsenal are no nearer to signing him though, over personal terms (ie he wants close to £80k, Arsenal will only pay £60k)

Indeed. According to the article below though, they had agreed 80k a week 'in principle' but Arshavin now wants 100k to compensate for his having to pay Zenit off.

"The club insisted it had reduced its original £17m valuation of the player but was now seeking a one-off payment from him, as cited in Arshavin's £100,000-a-week contract, to make up the shortfall. That, in turn, appears to have prompted Arshavin to seek better terms from Arsenal which could yet wreck the transfer. The Zenit chief executive, Maxim Mitrofanov, stated last week that personal terms had been agreed "in principle" between the midfielder and the Premier League club, thought to be around £80,000 a week."

Didn't Chimbonda serve some time at LB when he was first with Wigan?

Football's most loyal player has signed a contract extension to 2012. Good ol' Steve Harper.

But if City get Given then Harper knows he will be number 1 and Newcastle know they dont have to find a new first choice keeper.

Quality player, could do better than Wanderers though.

My thoughts exactly. If they are willing to let him go for £12M then I would expect a number of clubs better than Bolton to willing to match that.

True, but he’s played what 50/60 games for them in 10 or so seasons – he’d probably have got in to half the sides in the top flight and most if not all Championship sides.

I know he’s a local boy but IMO he’s wasted his career there and could have player 300+ games by now, possibly won something and may even be in the England squad.

Think Harper has played around 110 games the BBC said but I agree totally, the bloke could easily be in the England squad and possibly team if he was playing every week, and at nearly every other club he would be. 110 games in over 10 years, less than 3 full seasons.

You never know, maybe Harper is not that fussed with football and see's it as like having a part time job that he rarely has to turn up to but still get's paid s**t loads.

in recent years he has got himself a degree and is a qualified ref.

This is it........he probably sees football as a job and as long as he's got a steady income then he doesn't care. Signing a new contract at Newcastle he knows he has a job for the next few years at a place where they all respect and like him.

I think Harry wanted him due to his ability to also play centre back - what with King & Woodgate being so injury prone

I don't really rate him to be honest, one good game in the Euros.

I don't think arsenal need a player like him, they need a ball wining midfilder, money would be alot better spent on the Sporting Lisbon lad that Bolton want
