Royal Rother Windsor & Eton's game at Stag Meadow on Saturday, at home to Tiverton, will almost certainly be the club's last ever game.

They said that about the Hednesford game. Still going!

Been to Stag Meadow a few times recently and thoroughly enjoyed it, but im sure there are some Totton fans with a wry smile after W&E bought the title with money they didnt have. The big earners should have been dumped from the wage bill, but they kept them to win the league and this is the result.

Its very harsh on the loyal fans like you, but looking at the club as a whole its totally self inflicted.

You'd be hard pushed to find a single W&E fan who doesn't agree with you on all counts. I certainly do.

The Chairman seems to have lost all control in recent years and still, 4 months on from when it 1st reared its head publically, he has still not been able to produce all the paperwork necessary for a CVA application to the court. The debt grew from his initial estimates of £170k to £250k, and still it is not known whether that is the lot.

HMRC had not been paid PAYE for 5 years. A reflection on just how shit they are at chasing small debts but a dreadful reflection on the Chairman himself.

W&E fans were embarrassed at the fact we were allowed to play our last game of the season after Totton had finished their fixtures due to someone else's fixture pile up - that gave us a massive advantage, and the fact that VTFC then played a virtual reserve team against us, playing 4 teenagers and putting their leading scorer at centre half (they had a Cup Final the same week) left a somewhat uncomfortable feeling after the celebrations had died down.

Alan Partridge Diddy lost again 3-0 today

But good news

Adie Williams is the new manager!! 8)

...hmmm - didn't stay @ Bedford Town too long, did he? - I've never taken the time to find out why/when he left after what wasn't a long term - but I have some sympathy - I had to go and work in Bedford for a spell in a former life and its an absolute &^%* to get to - assuming he didn't try and move from round here/Swindon.
- saw him at Supermarine when I thought he was still the Bedford manager, early this season - and got the impression he was scouting on his own doorstep - certainly was very pally with all the 'marine officials?

Good luck to the fellah and Diddy - don't like to see them struggling and they've a nice ground too.

... any 'fallout' from the meeting at Stag Meadow then RR? - Haven't checked the Royalists forum today.

Bar was open: albeit quite tricky to find the way in - much like the ground.
- Its part of an enormous Sports Complex next to Pompey Uni. with several Football, Rugby and Hockey Pitches several of them lit. All in the shadow of the Spinnaker Tower-thingy and the masts of HMS Victory.
Minor obstacle is how to find the entrance - the only opening is via one of those barriered Guardhouse thingies on Burnaby Rd - all the other access points seem to be locked permanently shut - which is a bit vexing when you can see where you want to be but not how to get there!

Basically jacked it in because he was commuting all the time and said he couldn't give it his all or get passionate about it.

Diddy is just down the road from him now, but he's got a big job on because they are crap.

I think that the soon to be ex-Chairman of W&EFC needs to take a long, hard look at himself in a mirror. But RR, I thought the reason for VTFC to field a weakened team was because they had a play-off semi final to look forward to.

Hopefully Kevin Stott and Co can have something in place for next season. The plans are there and there is still hope. Not all is lost.

... like I said I have every sympathy for him - had a very uncomfortable couple of years where I was expected to travel over to Bedford/MK on a regular basis - my then boss was based there - and the town; the journey and the people there, did not endear me to the place one bit!

... have been to 'The Eyrie' home of Bedford Town on the SE edge of the town itself - good ground - is adjacent to Bedford FC from the Spartan S.Mids - which I s'pose I'll have to visit afore long.

Oddly enough around the same time I was supposed to get over to Colchester/Ipswich (and Felixtowe) for work meetings and by contrast found the journey and the folk there far easier to put up with. 8)

Does this now mean he'll be starring on BBC Radio Baaarks a lot less?

Alan Partridge
AthleticoSpizz One for Adi Williams maybe?

Stuart was manager at Didcot and wasn't paid a thing for doing it.

I don't imagine Adi would be the same, Didcot have barely a pot to piss in so I'd be surprised.
Adi is on BBCBerks payroll, so hopefully he should be able to do the job cheaply. He also seems desperate to break into the management scene, having already dipped his toe briefly at the aforementioned Reading Swindon and Bedford Town.

Good luck Adi

Back on the Windsor and Eton topic - fairly grim statement on the website:-

http://www.wefc.co.uk/news/110130a.asp

...salient points -

In light of next Wednesday's (2nd February) fast approaching High Court Hearing at which HMRC will seek to have their winding up petition against the club enforced; it was concluded by Chairman Peter Simpson that their petition would not be opposed. Regrettably therefore the club will cease to exist after this date.

There was considerable determination and resolve amongst those present to form a new club, which will continue to play at Stag Meadow.

'Next Fixture' rather poignantly states "Who Knows!" :(

The only way is up - if the club adopts the John Madejski model of self-sustainability, within-your-means financial governance I'm sure there is a decent future for a new club. There are some good people involved, and although a lot needs to be done before August, their collective desire, energy, skills and professionalism gives me every confidence it'll happen.

I just hope it's at Stag Meadow, for whatever league we start off in, I'll be there as will most of the 171 who turned up for Windsor and Eton FC's last ever game on Saturday. (The Tiverton supporters probably won't I guess....)

The very real and obvious challenge is to get many more than 170 along every week to the new club's games and to develop other income streams and that will undoubtedly be top priority for the new Chairman and his board, otherwise it'll just become another deep dark hole for somebody's money to be poured into.

As of last week Burnham FC hadn't paid their players for 3 months and there are bound to be many other clubs in W&E's position, (well, maybe they haven't been quite so appallingly run), so one has to expect more wind-ups in the next year or 2 in the non-leagues.

A post made on the W&E forum today...

My first full season watching Windsor was the 1999-2000 season.

So here is food for thought...
In that time I reckon I've been to 90% of the 740 games played since then (ironically that works out as 666 games )

I've seen 59990 mins of football (not including extra time .. in my minds eye most of them seem to be a cold February night)

I've walked 87 miles just changing ends at half time (I'm sure must the FA owe me a new pair of shoes).

Worked on the turnstiles 2 times.

Taken over 8000 photographs.

I've eaten 19.2kg of beef in burgers from non-league food huts (based on the rather naive assumption they are all quarter pounders and 100& beef)!

I've drunk 200lt of tea.

1332 pints of beer or 167 gallons and that is assuming I had only one at HT and one at FT.. I recall 3 of them were even a decent pint...

I've passed 333Lt of urine down non-league toilets (and 0 poo's I hasten to add)...

I've seen Humpty fall over 3 times and Malc 1

I've witnessed the standing area being cleared out due to a noxious smell someone has produced on 9 occasions I can remember . The worst being Hampton and Richmond away when Jez generated an odour that still haunts me in my sleep....it was bad... I mean really bad... like the love child produced in a liaison between a bag of rotting vegetables and a skunk... which has then been set fire too... and someone has tried to put it out by shovelling poo on it... I think I need counselling ........

I've seen promotion, relegation success and failure. I've made some fantastic friends who I hope I'll know for a long time to come..

My saddest moment in all that time was watching the lights get turned out for the last time. So I'd like to say goodnight and sleep well Windsor thank you for all the memories... its been emotional.

Tony Le Mesmer Windsor & Eton formally wound up in the High Court yesterday. :(

Do clubs that played W&E earlier in the season now have their results voided? Clubs are out of pocket because they can't recover the expenses for playing those wasted matches.

If a club goes into administration then it is a case of dropping points and maybe going down a division. If a club ceases to exist and a new club rises from the ashes then where does it enter the football pyramid? Is it straight in to Hellenic Premier or do they start at the bottom?

Usually all results against the defunct club are null and void and removed from the record.

As for any new club, the FA decides where best they should enter. This is as low as possible usually but not necessarily the bottom tier. I think as someone mentioned, had Pompey gone under any new club would most likely have been placed in the Conf South due to likely size of travelling support.

Not sure I'm following your point exactly but I should imagine that all clubs visiting Stag Meadow this season only came with the guarantee of immediate payment of their share of gate receipts.
