It's quite obvious really isn't it? Resting players against Madrid for their biggest game of the season thus far against us. They were so bitter about last season when we beat them at Anfailed as we 'ruined' their big day and they really wanted revenge.

Personally I think it's quite sweet that Kes thinks a match against Chelsea in the Premier League is a bigger occasion than playing the 10 time European Champions in the CL at Anfield or in the Santiago Bernabéu.

I don't, but Liverpool do. The team selection against Madrid told us that.

There's a vine of a Liverpool fan holding up his five fingers to a Real Madrid player (may have been Ronaldo)

More important at that moment in time? yes. Bigger occasion? No.

"When you spend over £100 million on players you would expect to be challenging for the league." Brendan Rodgers 27th April 2014.

Can't figure out why he hasn't used Markovic a bit more. Looked impressive for Benfica last season as a quick, dangerous runner who was capable of causing defenders some alarm - would have thought he was ready made for PL football given his strengths. Seems to have been used mostly as a cup player in the second string team.

Lack of movement up front is absolutely killing Liverpool's attacking football. The likes of Sterling, Lallana, Markovic have no runners to pick out, not channels to run into created by incisive runs of Suarez or Sturridge.

Whenever I've seen Markovic play this season, he's looked like the Liverpool equivalent of how Antonio used to play for Reading.

I would worry about the defence first and foremost.

True. Liverpool's defence arguably cost them the league last season, and they're without Suarez and Sturridge scoring the goals to cover up the defensive frailties this season.

This is why i don't understand the purchase of Balotelli and Lambert :|

Even someone like Shane Long would have been a better buy - at least he runs and works for the team
