genome Guidolin gone, Bob Bradley in str8 away

Just out of interest, who is bob bradley?

Bob Bradley?

Oh, you mean the same Bob Bradley who took the US to the final game of the 2009 Confederations Cup, ending Spain's 35 game unbeaten streak in the process, but losing to Brazil in the final (what a disgrace having that happen, lol)? That Bob Bradley?

Sure it is a risk to appoint someone with no top flight management experience in the UK but I just have a feeling Bradley will not be overmatched when it comes to tactics and motivating his players. The teams he has managed all have seemed to overachieve for whatever reason...

Colin takes over at Cardiff.

Paddy Kenny gets to see a bit Wales as well now I guess.

Will there be many players top torsoing the ball into the Score bag or will it be low kick play into the scoring zone?

Honestly this is a horrific appointment by swanseas new owner. You have to fear for them now.

....so win, lose or draw, promotion, relegation or mid-table mediocrity.....Cardiff will be looking for another manager within the year then.

Bradley has a decent record everywhere he's managed and is regarded as a top coach. It's a decent appointment IMO.

Yeah - just because he's a yank everyone seems to be ignoring his actual management experience. Especially as the media were demanding Ryan Giggs - who has an expansive career in management.....

No Fixed Abode
Silver Fox At least they've got a top drawer man in place to take over

Agreed. I'd like to see Clarke do well as he was so harshly treated by Reading.

Good luck Steve.

Could well be Steve, a different Steve in fact as Mr Bruce is reported to be in talks currently.....

Heard this Bob Bradley fella talking earlier. He sounds like Tony Soprano. I really hope he says 'Bada Bing' during a post match interview.

Derby are on the edge of turning into another basket case of a club.

Seems all this saga over Pearson blew up because the Derby owner started sending drones over to watch the first team training sessions and Pearson saw this as an invasion of privacy and told the owner so.

Even funnier now is that the rumour is Steve McClaren could be going back....

..and he has a proven track record of turning under achieving clubs around.

I bet he's the only Princeton graduate in the Premier League as well.

Someone like Giggs is absolutely the last sort of signing a club in Swansea's position should be making.

There's no way of telling what sort of manager Giggs would make, but there is a strange assumption that being a top player will mean you'll be a really good manager. Such a player "might" command respect of the players, but that depends a huge amount on their personality.

Overall though, how many really good managers have had excellent player careers? Look at Guardiola, Wenger, Mourinho, Ferguson, Klopp for example - all were footballing journeymen at best.

The idea that being a famous player is all the qualification anyone needs to be a good manager is daft. I think it was a few years ago that Gareth Southgate was told he needed to get his coaching badges before being a manager, and you had pundit s saying that playing for England was all the qualification you needed.

And today you have Robbie Savage ask what Bob Bradley knows about fighting a relegation battle. What does Ryan Giggs know about fighting one?

I remember a quote from Paul ince just after he masterminded a quite phenomenal escape from relegation for Macclesfield. He basically said that his playing career was irrelevant, He couldn't relate to them earning £250 a week and relegation potentially meaning they lose their houses and they couldn't relate to being an England International and playing at world cups, he was just another novice manager.

The single most important thing he had to do as earn their respect as a coach and manager and to talk them them about what they were capable of doing and never mention what he did as a player.

Maybe it was a result of being alongside Moyes or Van Gaal, but Giggs always looked totally disinterested in the dugout.
