Royal Rother Bilic 6/4 to be next PL manager to go.

Can't see it myself.

Not so sure, beginning to look like another Martinez. Built on the successful defence of the previous manager (Moyes v Allardyce) but focussing purely on attacking talent. Defence gets neglected or even weakened whilst everyone marvels at the new attacking play the team has.

Forward play begins to falter a bit in the second season and defence isn't strong enough to keep the side in the game. Add a so far disaster of a move to a new stadium for West Ham and the recipe is there for a sacking by Xmas if they are still in the bottom 3.

From Despair To Where? Someone like Giggs is absolutely the last sort of signing a club in Swansea's position should be making.

There's no way of telling what sort of manager Giggs would make, but there is a strange assumption that being a top player will mean you'll be a really good manager. Such a player "might" command respect of the players, but that depends a huge amount on their personality.

Overall though, how many really good managers have had excellent player careers? Look at Guardiola, Wenger, Mourinho, Ferguson, Klopp for example - all were footballing journeymen at best.

The idea that being a famous player is all the qualification anyone needs to be a good manager is daft. I think it was a few years ago that Gareth Southgate was told he needed to get his coaching badges before being a manager, and you had pundit s saying that playing for England was all the qualification you needed.

And today you have Robbie Savage ask what Bob Bradley knows about fighting a relegation battle. What does Ryan Giggs know about fighting one?

Agree with most of this (apart from Guardiola not being a top player).
I have always felt that top players often don't need to think about the game too much as their own ability carried them through as a player.
Classic cases of Booby Moore, Bobby Charlton, John Barnes, Shearer etc are amongst the many not to have made it in management.
I do admire the likes of Ince and Hasselbank starting at a low level and Giggs ought to do the same rather than expect to move into a Premier League job having no experience of club management other than holding the fort at Old Trafford for a few weeks.

Yeah, plus one on that

BUT

I think the fact that his career took the massive sidestep that it did in 2001 is what's made him so effective a manager. He was still quite young, he could have played at Barcelona for a lot longer and he took a different route, via Qatar and Mexico. While not uncomfortable, he probably learned more by having that extra experience under his belt.

Apart from that's not completely true is it.

McNamara said he would quit if they lost at the weekend, they drew so he spoke to the chairman and they both agreed that it was best he would move on anyway but would effectively work a 2 week notice whilst the replacement is hired.

Can't imagine why Paul, of all RFC fans, would rather think about Jamie McNamara

I beg to differ if that's ok.

"it has been decided, in the best interest of York City that JM steps down" = Sacked

"chairman has asked JM to train and prepare the team until a suitable candidate..." = Caretaker Manager.

HTH.

yeah, that was an "oops, meant to edit that one". Had a complete block on him as a player, checked and saw he'd been pretty good to say the least, then forget to take him out of the list.

It doesn't change the fact he's stepping down if he's going to look after the role until a new manager is found.

Not that hard to figure out mate, he'll look after the team until a new manager is found, then he'll step down. In fact it says as much in the statement.

Unless the words "sacked" and "caretaker" were actually used in the statement then it's not that ridiculous.
