Starfish Arsenal & Zenit have agreed a price for Arshavin according to this ..

http://www.sportinglife.com/football/ne ... 22820.html

He will suit the way arsenal play to be honest

I don't really rate him to be honest, one good game in the Euros.

I don't think arsenal need a player like him, they need a ball wining midfilder, money would be alot better spent on the Sporting Lisbon lad that Bolton want

LOL - he was the main reason Zenit won the UEFA cup.......he tore England apart when we lost in Russia........he was instrumental in Russia qualifying for the Euros

You only say he had one good game, cos you only watch him playing 4 or 5.

But i do agree to your second point - Arsenal dont need a lightweight play maker, they need a tough central defender and a ball winning midfielder - people who can put it about abit

I think his point stands - the only reason that is your argument is because you've barely seen him play.

I'd also argue he had two good games - first as Russia swatted aside Sweden and then in the quarterfinals.

I can't remember the game against Greece though.

So 1 good game (according to you) out of 5 means you dont rate him? - how is that an argument?.....what about the other competitions that i listed, are you saying that you do rate him in them?!

soggy biscuit You never know, maybe Harper is not that fussed with football and see's it as like having a part time job that he rarely has to turn up to but still get's paid s**t loads.

in recent years he has got himself a degree and is a qualified ref.

This is it........he probably sees football as a job and as long as he's got a steady income then he doesn't care. Signing a new contract at Newcastle he knows he has a job for the next few years at a place where they all respect and like him.

And when they need to appoint a goalie coach around the time he's thinking of retiring, who are they likely to ask?....

30 grand a game, assuming he plays all the remaining league games and based on the 'reported' 500k this cost Brum

Where do wages come into these quoted fees? Included or not?

If not,

I believe the 500k is the loan fee.

You put the word "reported" in their like it is only a rumour when it is the Birmingham official site that "reported" it.

As for Costly, he doesn't exactly have a fantastic scoring record in lesser leagues than the Championship.

So now they have Phillips, Jerome, Bent, O'Connor, McFadden & Costly - surely one of the first 5 is leaving? THe wages of those lot must be huge, and that doesn't take into account the other high earners in their squad like Carsley, Queudrue, Ridgewell, Taylor, Bowyer, Bouazza, etc.....

THey really are throwing money at getting to the Premiership.

I find it staggering that they have signed another striker. They've only just signed Bouazza on loan to the end of the season and now have more strikers than anyone in the Premier League.

McLeish seems to be playing a flawed numbers game. It's like when one leaves or gets injured he simply has to go and get another one. Of course it could work but getting new faces in every few weeks (especially in a position where they have loads of options anyway) surely undermines the essential spirit of the squad that is essential for grinding out results when the going gets tough. Bizarre.

Bouazza isplaying wide left for them but yep agreed. Birmingham lack real width whenever i've seen them and just lack a flow to their game, chopping and changing all the time won't help them.

Bolton fans must be livid. Why he's gone to Newcastle when they are terminally unstable I'll never know. The wheels are certainly coming off Kinnear's tenure there. I can see them getting relegated.

The Diouf switch was on as soon as Big Sam took over at B'burn.

Bolton are a small club and can never be a big club.

Newcastle are a big club and can be gigger, but they're in a mess on the field. Not so much off the field now.

Easy decision.
