Four Of Clubs Unexpected defeat for Tadley – though they have ‘loaned/shared’ one of their usually prolific front line (James Tennant) to help out Thatcham, so possibly they are a bit understrength?[/i]

Tennant is a full on Thatcham player this season (I'd read he was one of their big summer signings). I don't think there's any sharing going on there, although I suppose he might've signed on for both teams.

... he has appeared once for Tadley this season - came on as sub mid-August and scored at ANS - presumaby loaned back, as I don't think he'd be dual registered between 2 teams @ STEP5 & 6 - not sure of rules though and the clubs are in different league constitutions - so he could be eligible to play for both.

He's not been making the Thatcham match day squad of late though......

EDIT - wasn't in the squad for Binfield; probably unavailable on the night as it was a Monday game - missed the FA Cup defeat vs Bracknell too - guess I should have looked through a few more reports  , scored three goals so far in his 9 appearances , one vs Longlevens and a brace against Saints.

Looks like he's played pretty much every game FoC.

I've no idea how the duel registration works between the two leagues though as he's still listed as signed on for both clubs according to Full Time.

I'm going to be working a week of nights in the Harrow area from Monday 10th to Friday 14th October and was looking to try and fill an evening or two with some football if possible. As it's international week the fixtures are a bit more limited, but I've done a little bit of looking so far and found via the Non League Paper website that there's some Ryman League fixtures at Carshalton Athletic on the Monday and Greenwich Borough on the Tuesday, but these are quite geographically spread (although not impossible).

Below that league I think is the Combined Counties(?) and so I'm trying to see if there's something a bit nearer going on there, but a) my knowledge of London boroughs isn't great and b) some of the team names aren't immediately obvious as to their location.

Could someone with a bit more knowledge of the non league give me a few pointers as to potential fixtures for that week I could get to? Near tube/train stations preferable.

Thanks in advance.

Bit thin that week as most of the local County cup fixtures start in the following weeks. An alternative for the Tuesday might be Hendon vs Kingstonian as they now play at Kingsbury. Bit far from the tube station though but as you are coming from Harrow there is a bus which takes you nearer.

... had a quick trawl earlier for games on Tue & Wed of that week - bear in mind it's FA Trophy the previous Sat which might sling up a replay that midweek too but that wd be a bit short notice.

As YC said above the lower levels appear to have a league cup week scheduled. I'm not a great one for tube stations as I tend to drive but I will knock together a proper list later this week.
Scribbled it out at work but didn't post it as a) I was at work  and b) like now only had my phone available to 'nob it'.

(am watching Thatcham get a right going over so far from RWBT!)

From memory there were a couple of interest that might be close to tube/rail ...

North Greenford Utd, Rayners Lane & Hadley Wood (play @ Wingate & Finchley FC)
... all three grounds have serviceable spectator comforts - can't vouch for the level of football on show though.

More later .....

Winch have found their form at last. We started the season with a new squad and a new manager, having lost our 4 best players who all stepped up a league or two. Apart from a good win against Salisbury, we had some awful results. Things have picked up since. Even when we lost 2-0 to Hereford, you could see the team was playing much much better. Then we beat Truro City (two steps above us) 4-0 in the FA Cup and won 6-0 in the Hampshire Senior Cup. I'm confident that Bridgwater will get battered.

Sadly I can't go - taking my daughter to Bath to start Uni, but I'll be following in on fb.

Windsor playing Farnham today.

Manager Mick Woodham says in the local paper he's not unhappy despite recent losses because we've been playing well.

Some might beg to differ on that one Mick.

The flair players who gave real hope of doing something a bit special in the early weeks of the season have moved on already and we are back to being a workmanlike outfit capable of nothing more than mid table mediocrity.

I'm ok with that but let's not kid ourselves.

Speaking of Bracknell I went to the Allied Cup u18s game between Windsor and Bracknell midweek. Windsor raced into a 2 goal lead after 20 mins but Bracknell clawed it back and probably deserved a late equaliser to take it to ET.

And then penalties which Bracknell won.

Terrific game between 2 very young and very good teams.

(Windsor's team was an amalgam of their 2 u18 squads (best from each) and it's a shame we won't get to see that very promising set of lads play together again.)

Certainly provided more entertainment than the 1st team have of late.

... made sense to switch it - better for this size of crowd or even half that, shlepping down the A3095 to Bottom Meadow (Sandhurst) which is the Robin's temporary nest whilst Larges is re-built -and will incl 3G pitch too.

Stubbs was able to accommodate last nights crowd with little or no difficulty - think Sandhurst might have struggled, particularly on parking and bar/food area.

Not sure about any ruling on gate receipts for the Vase here.

As for the match, Bracknell had the lion's share of possession but mis-fired for most of the first half. Binfield worked hard in midfield and stifled their 'visitors/hosts' :? took the lead with a snap shot which swerved and completley deceived Grace in the Bracknell goal.

Bracknell turned on the screw 2nd half and penned the Moles back - who understandably tired under the pressure - Robins winning the game with goals on 78' & 79'.

Windsor 5-0 Farnham Town

Better by far but against the worst team we've played this season by some distance so nothing to get too excited about.

Mmmmm, Farnham used to field the odd player or two from the Bordon Army Camp and were a credible team....the Army have moved to Lyneham Swinedon.....Bordon has been sold off to the developers...hence no more.trainee squaddies...probably nothing to do with it..but just maybe?

Nice little ground tho'

Hmm, no idea on that one.

They've been pretty decent the last couple of years but look doomed to struggle at the moment. That said, squads change so much during the course of a season you can never predict with confidence although early pacesetters do tend to see it through.

Yeah, their ground is very, shall we say, characterful, but the facilities are ropey and the pitch worse. I quite enjoy going there because of the odd elevated position behind the goal. (You can't get behind the other goal.)
