Whoever gets to the final at least there won't be an EngLOLish club to ruin it like last year.

soggy biscuit
TBM You know it'll be an "el-classico"

Please god no. The media will be furiously masturbating over the prospect no doubt. With the way both teams spent most of the time rolling around on the floor (Di Maria & Alba being the main stars of the show) it may as well be WWE.

It's WWF actually.

This is beautiful. Bayern play football with the perfect blend of ball retention and tempo.

Also puts paid to all those possession-wakners who think possession is everything!

Barcelona: 64%
Bayern: 36%

Yet Bayern lead 4-0!!!

This is EFFECTIVE football, not that passing it aimlessly back and forth like a bunch of wakners!!!

It's all about getting the right blend. Bayern know when to keep it and when to press forward, and they're exceptional at both aspects. They also get the ball forward with precision and keep it mostly on the floor. Fantastic to watch.

Bayern are indeed majestic. I'd still love to see Dortmund win it though.

I can't see Bayern not scoring though, especially as Barca need to go and get 5 (FIVE)

Bayern just played the way Real Madrid have played against Barca for the last 2 seasons. Great result for them but it's not as if this is some great tactical revelation that nobody has used against Barca before.

I agree with you to an extent Ideal. There is no absolute way of playing football, each situation demands a different style and a different tempo. I'm sure Bayern are very capable of winning with 65% possession, as they have done plenty of times this season, and they've shown tonight they can with 35%. The key is playing the right ball at the right time, whether that be short or long. Often a direct ball can be the wrong ball to play as it goes straight to the opposition, so it is a balancing act.

"See, this is where the average football fan gets it wrong. They think that direct ball means "hooof", but it doesn't, it means passing it efficiently in the longitudinal direction, and this requires accuracy.

Similarly, idiots/average people fail to understand this when watching efficient, direct football, when they don't see two centre backs passing it back and forth to eachother for 10 minutes they think it means "this must be hoofball", which isn't the case. They're just too stupid to understand it.

Clearly it doesn't matter if you don't have the ball as much as your opponents, if when you get it you score four times, and when they have it most of the time they fail to score."

one can only be awed at the intellect required to understand football.

People like Winchester Royal are your typical novice fan. Getting highly carried away by one performance. Bayern were very poor against Arsenal a few weeks back and now they're the greatest team on the Planet. Remember, even Reading on their day can get a point against the reigning European Champions. Doesn't mean they'll avoid the drop. One top performance in the semi 1st leg doesn't win you the trophy.

Yeah, this is a one-off performance from Bayern this season. It's not like they've won the German league with 6 games to spare, got to the cup final after a 6-1 win, and onle eased off against Arsenal after spanking them at the Emirates is it?
