Deathy Bolton are a small club and can never be a big club.

Newcastle are a big club and can be gigger, but they're in a mess on the field. Not so much off the field now.

Easy decision.

I think Newcastle are a mess off the field as well. Ashley is still desperate to sell and the article about 'Insomnia' stated that Ashley is losing money hand over foot due to the credit crunch.

I agree about the size of Newcastle compared to Bolton though.

Giles Barnes on a loan move 'till the end of the season to Fulham, with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for Charlton...

It's 50/50 for Barnes. With Fulham's depth he could disappear off the map completely. He was the next big thing for a while a couple of seasons ago but needs to kick on.

Suffered an injury that slowed his progress. He needs to be playing first team football to kick on.

Royal Rother I find it staggering that they have signed another striker. They've only just signed Bouazza on loan to the end of the season and now have more strikers than anyone in the Premier League.

McLeish seems to be playing a flawed numbers game. It's like when one leaves or gets injured he simply has to go and get another one. Of course it could work but getting new faces in every few weeks (especially in a position where they have loads of options anyway) surely undermines the essential spirit of the squad that is essential for grinding out results when the going gets tough. Bizarre.

Agreed, they are in the top 3 for a reason - a squad in their position, similar to us and Wolves needs tweaking with 2/3 signings not 6/7 as they seem to have done.

It could work but massive overhauls in Jan very rarely seem to.

Ashley has taken the club off the market, or had done a couple of weeks ago. Of course off the record, he is very possibly still seeking that rich Arab to buy the club.

Just because the club is officially off the market doesn't mean Ashley doesn't want out desperately.

bbc One impact of the snow on the transfer window is the almost total absence of texts and 606s from people purporting to work at airports. Precious few top internationals have been spotted at Heathrow/Gatwick/Newcastle/Manchester airport.

Though spookyfishreturns on 606 reckons Roque Santa Cruz is at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester. He really should check out the nearby Imperial War Museum. Excellent.

Premier League yet to confirm or deny that the window will be extended due to the weather. My first reaction was LOL, but tbf, if players can't move around to have their medicals, last minute deals will be off the table.

Deadline to be extended by 24 hours - possibly.

Ricardo Quersma (sp?) left out of Inter Milan Champions League line up amid rumours of a move to Spurs.

Quaresma, hes not played much since his move due to the fact Mourinho has switched from 4-3-3, to 4-3-1-2

Would be a good signing, wherever he ends up. I think Liverpool wanted him last season, but they now have Riera instead (plus Babel and an improving Benyaoun). Looks like Spurs then.

Robbie Keane on his way down to London for a medical at Spurs. Liverpool set to make decision on a cash only offer by 12pm.

LOL if it is more than £20m, and Spurs have sold and re-signed two of their strikers for a net loss in the space of months.
