typical garbage from some people on there, can't say i am surprised
sectarian chanting and refereeing decisions are one thing, and they work both ways but only one club has had its players getting bullets in the post, only one club has had it's manager and high-profile fans getting bombs in the post, only one club has had its manager getting attacked on the pitch, only one club has had thugs hanging outside the training ground with a gun
finerain seems to get off digging for links to discredit celtic and its fans, i honestly could provide you with a 100 page thread of dodgy stuff related to rangers and thats this season alone but i can't be bothered, i'm not desperately trying to win some pr battle, the events speak for themselves
anyone who says lennon brings it on himself is either a moron or has an agenda and there's a fair share that fall into both categories posting on this thread, the people who say they wish the guy was bombed or punched or killed really are showing themselves to be the utter hate-filled c*Nts they are (indeed it's these kinds of people that are the reason the scottish game is in such a mess)
there are many outspoken provocative managers out there, the likes of neil warnock, sam allardyce, ferguson but they don't get the same treatment as lennon
oh and as for those saying burns and o'neill didn't get the same level of abuse, so what? what have paddy mccourt, neil mcginn, paul mcbride and trish godman done to deserve getting bullets and bombs in the post then?
the fact is there is a huge sectarian problem in scotland and a lot of it boils down to anti-catholic bigotry, it's as simple as that, it's endemic there, in fact it's almost as bad as northern ireland now and it won't go anywhere for generations (if at all, some people live on it and thrive on it), neil lennon has been hated since he said he would like to play for a united ireland team (and he had every right to say that as a northern nationalist), then he got death threats from loyalist terrorists and had to quit playing for northern ireland because of that
no doubt the usual suspects will come back with that celtic sing ira songs (last night was the first time i've heard those songs in a while and it was done in response to sectarian chanting by hearts fans but no excuses, it shouldn't have happened), that celtic have problems with their fans too etc etc
but the stuff lennon has had to deal with is on a whole other level to anything else, it's unprecedented and the victim-blaming stuff is nonsense, it deflects away from the core problem and it's insidious and mean-spirited
yes lennon is a hot-headed guy, yes he seems to wind people up the wrong way but no he doesn't deserve any of this, the scottish game is truly poisonous and sick and this has been the ultimate season of shame, let's hope something meaningful is finally done by the authorities to stamp out this stuff but i won't hold my breath
best of wishes to walter smith on his impending departure, a very underrated manager who is tactically very good, also the glasgow derby tends to bring out the worst in people but most of the time he has been a calm and dignified presence and lennon could learn a lot from him
congratulations also to rangers on their impending title win and three in a row achievement, an extraordinary achievement considering the lack of resources at their disposal, i have zero doubts killie will be rolled over with ease, rangers deserve the league title, they are a tougher more dogged and clinical side than celtic and can grind out results when it counts which is what you need to win titles
unfortunately this season will be remembered for the off-field stuff, let's hope next season we are talking about the football and the ugly stuff is done away with
