Hoop Blah Brasil who are supposedly struggling to get things going for 2014
Just like South Africa that definately weren't going to get their stadiums built on time and all the tourists would get raped and murdered?

Stranded Surely then, if that was the point of what FIFA are trying to do then they should only have invited bids from those countries where a legacy can be left? In this case, countries who haven't hosted before. It would have saved a lot of wasted time and money not just for us but for Spain/Portugal too.
If they are so fussed about transparency then it needs to be at all times, not just when it suits.

soggy biscuit Read this morning that Zidane was paid $3M by Qatar for the ads he did and was promised a further $12M if they won.

PieEaterleon Having the best "technical bid" and pre-built footballing infrastructure is utterly irrelevant if FIFA are looking to use the World Cup to develop the game in countries/regions where this isn't there already?
In previous World Cups, that was true for South Africa, what about Germany, France and Italy? Saying that now sounds like a convenient excuse to me.
Historically they have alternated, established European country to a developing country.

True but there is a lot of whining going on at the moment. England are hosting the next Olympic games. England are hosting the rugby World Cup in 2015. England hosted the European Championship finals in 1996 so its a pretty decent haul of major events I'd say.
Lets be honest. No-one thought London would win the Olympics. Did anyone complain about that vote being crooked? Did the French bang on about it?
Besides its high time Russia hosted the World Cup. Yes there is doubtless a hugh amount of corruption over there. However we are not unblemished are we.
Time to move on.

It'll be our first Olympics in 64 years. There's only a handful of countries that would even want to host the Rugby world cup. We hosted the EURO once ever.
But that's still mising the point. People aren't moaning that we should get to host these things more often. The complain isabout how dodgy the whole voting process seems.Lets be honest. No-one thought London would win the Olympics. Did anyone complain about that vote being crooked? Did the French bang on about it?
We were surprised as we'd come to pretty much expect failure in Olympic bids. We weren't considered a no-hoper like Qatar. The world wasn't complaining mainly because there wasn't something to complain about. Nodoby thought it a farce that we'd won.
And if we'd lost a close race against Russia, few would have been making that much of a noise about it. When you submit an excellent bid, and only one other member thinks it's worth voting for, questions are rightly going to be asked.

Great. If Russia were going to get it because they'd never had it before, then why bother with a bidding process? Just make the bid open to nations who've not had it before, and stop others wasting their time.
