With all due respect, gus - what jurisdiction do you think UEFA have when it comes to the Scottish postal service?

very true but i think you are missing the point, if one of its member clubs is constantly basically under siege with bullets and bombs then platini needs to do more than speak platitudes about bigotry from his cosy office in nyon, are they waiting for someone to do before taking any kind of meaningful action/

the sfa, spl and scottish government are talking about reforms at least but they need to deliver and it has to be effective and I mean this across the board, not only targetting the anti-catholic bigots, i mean the ira chanters, the famine singers everybody - clubs need to be seriously disciplined if they don't get their houses in order, points being docked, games behind closed doors, bans from europe, the works...at the moment its light fines, and some lip service about sectarianism not being acceptbale, suspended sentences etc., laughably lightweight reaction to a serious problem that is getting worse and worse

Gus the teenage cow sectarian chanting and refereeing decisions are one thing, and they work both ways but only one club has had its players getting bullets in the post, only one club has had it's manager and high-profile fans getting bombs in the post, only one club has had its manager getting attacked on the pitch, only one club has had thugs hanging outside the training ground with a gun

only one club has a manager who is in debt to the IRA

only one club has a player whose father's was arrested after ammunition was seized in is pub and ordered to remove a 40ft banner barring the Queen during her state visit to Ireland.

Gus the teenage cow the fact is there is a huge sectarian problem in scotland and a lot of it boils down to anti-catholic bigotry, it's as simple as that, it's endemic there, in fact it's almost as bad as northern ireland now and it won't go anywhere for generations (if at all, some people live on it and thrive on it), neil lennon has been hated since he said he would like to play for a united ireland team (and he had every right to say that as a northern nationalist), then he got death threats from loyalist terrorists and had to quit playing for northern ireland because of that

There is sectarianism in scotland, but it is not just anti catholic bigotry

For instance, in the state funded catholic schools, the same career opportunities are not made available to non catholic teachers as catholic teachers.

In the supermarket where I worked there were people from all both backgrouds, but you kew which one of the 2 managers interviewed every employee by the school each employee went to!

this is not a football problem, its not an anto catholic problem, it is a society problem and the 1st priority for any governement to fix the problem should be to stop seperating kids at 5 years of age.

Gus the teenage cow there are many outspoken provocative managers out there, the likes of neil warnock, sam allardyce, ferguson but they don't get the same treatment as lennon
...

yes, you have to ask why.

I doubt fergie would walk onto anfield after a game against liverpool and cup his ears at the home support

yes lennon is a hot-headed guy, yes he seems to wind people up the wrong way but no he doesn't deserve any of this

I agree he does not deserve bombs bullets attack by fans etc, but he does need to examine his own behaviour

Whilst I do not aprove of the bombs and bullets etc. I can't remember ever disliking a manager as much as Lennon. He is a nasty piece of work who is doing Celtic more harm than good.

Let's not forget the threats and intimidation Nacho Novo used to put up with. They published his address online, daubed death threats on his home, and during games, had the song "hope you die in your sleep nacho novo, from a bullet from the IRA" ring in his ears.

forgot ro add to my list

only one manager has twice had the Police Match Commander complain about his behaviour - yet no action was taken by the SFA / SPL

In at least one case the referee , who the police match commander complained to at half time, did not even mention in his report

the stuff that has happened to lennon is unprecedented in terms of how extreme it is -END OF

We could go on all day about "but you chanted this, but you did this to that player, but your chief executive said this, but your player's da/brother/sister did this" bla bla bla - i don't want to play that game, it's boring and is just a circle jerk of spite, believe me there's a tonne of stuff i could mention apart from the bombs/bullets/assaults but i can't be bothered, compile your lists away if it make syou feel better

however when real bullets and guns and bombs enter the equation something has to be done, when a manager is attacked during a game things have gone too far, that's when the whataboutery has to stop and the blame game has to stop and that's when we all should agree something has to be done - but no doubt the lennon-blaming and circle jerking will continue here and prove precisely why things are such a mess up there

we all think we have the moral high ground, we all think the other side are a bunch of horrible c*nts and if that's what it like on a messageboard for Reading fc, multiply it by 100 up there, it's hard to envisage a way to decontanimate the game in Scotland, maybe the clubs will just have to merge

ah well.......as you were

I spent three months in Scotland recently and TBH the football is of such a poor standard that you wonder why they bother - most is League 1 standard hoofball. Its not like the Scots are particularly religious either - this is an issue of social disorder by some deprived sectors of the community. Police need to crack down not softly pedal all this nonsense.

As i've said, I don't like lennon at all, but the bullets, threats and now being attacked on a pitch is totally unacceptable. I completely condemn it all. However, last night it was nothing to do with the old firm - so its time for people to see his comments and attitude in the media, as well as Celtic bringing the game into disrepute this season with intimidation of referees and their constant noise about bias refs has really wound other normal fans up. As Jim Jefferies said the hearts fans last night were really wound up about their team being accused of not trying at Ibrox, it was waiting to go off and due to some poor refereeing decisions in celtics favour, it did.

Separately, Celtic are going to be reported for sectarian singing, its been happening all season but last night it was so loud all the officials who previously only like to hop on Rangers for it are being forced to act upon in. Good, was getting fed up of it being swept under the carpet while Rangers were being victimised. I would also like them to stamp the IRA chants out also, imagine if a club went around london singing support for osama bin laden or al-qaeda. The FA would hammer them straight away, Its ridiculous in this day and age Celtic think its acceptable to sing it at football matches. Also gus, claiming they were sung because " they were reacting to hearts fans" is ridiculous, two wrongs don't make a right. Its not an excuse, I also heard | up the ra" sung a few times during the kilmarnock game and countless others.

Songbook last night posted on follow follow ( petty its been recorded, but not suprising as celtic fans continuously howl at Rangers chants - ff now returning the favour and emailing authorities)

lol the lists continue

same old same old perpetuating the hate

i'm not going to post about rangers sectarian chants, don't see the point, but there are plenty of them and they have been reported for it on numerous occassions

as i said we can play this game all day long

but finerain, do you have any proposals for solutions so that we don't see sectarian chants or bullets or bombs or managers getting attacked? (please don't focus your solution on one side only)

the first solution i propose is we stop using this thread to blame the other side, yes i have been guilty of that and so have the rangers supporters, it's a societal problem of course so can we focus on solutions please or am i asking too much and shall we return to the hate?

tbh gus, having re-read my post, can you point out the bits which you disagree with or think are " perpetuating the hate"?. You really don't see the provocation of having a manager who is in debt to the IRA, acts like a thug in the media, has openly made a sectarian rant in his playing days( video already posted in this thread), taunts crowds by standing in the centre circle with his hands on his ears, etc. The problem is lennon. No he shouldn't have to suffer this abuse, but its also no coincidence tommy burns or martin o'neill didn't receive this type of treatment either because their conduct was acceptable. Not sure how it can be resolved, the latest bullet could be a hearts fan or possibly another club because the hate has spread that far so the police have their work cut out. Lennon doesn't help himself, instead of keeping a low profile after the last incident he continues to shout his mouth off and draw attention to himself, some are actually suggesting he enjoys it all.

Any people singing sectarian chants, or chants in supporting of terrorist organisations should be punished. That includes everyone from Rangers and Celtic right down to Ayr or Partick Thistle. It has no place in football. If you read some of the Rangers forums there is a big united front who want it stamped out of our club because its dragging the name through the gutter. If you go onto the Celtic forums, they conveniently ignore the IRA chanting and also have threads ( made by admins) with sectarian names, its really worrying.

(http://kerrydalestreet.co.uk/topic/8502764/1/) HUN thread 183 pages...really?

Celtic moan at Rangers
Rangers moan at Celtic

It's tiresome on both sides. LOL @ Hooper scoring over 20 goals this season.
