I for one will be happy to welcome our near neighbours back to the football league, needing just 5 more points as it stands today, I have many happy memories of our tussles with them in our lower league days, hopefully we will be able to arrange a preseason game at thr recreation ground as welcome back to the big time.

Stevenage - Exeter - MASSIVE game.

Looking good for a possible all Devon game at some point in the PO's. Decent gate reciepts for both sides if nothing else

the garrison boys inch a little further ahead at the top of the pile...perhaps league football is becoming a realistic target...

the shots now have 30 wins which equals the record set by wycombe wanderers in 1991-92.

they are within touching distance of the points record (95) set by yeovil town in 2002-03 and equalled by dagenham and redbridge last season.

they are also, currently, the joint holders of the record for the least amount of draws in a season (3) which they share with barnet who got the same amount in 1982-83.
it is only a matter of time.and it will be longer before torquay can emulate.

The Emperor Showa (d.1989) of Japan was reportedly a keen fan of Boston United. It is sad on many levels that he did not live to see their rise into the League and their subsequent precipitous fall into the lower echelons of the English football pyramid. He once watched a Northern League fixture from the stands at Whitley Bay.

Once, on a visit to Boston, Massachusetts with President Regan in 1986, he stunned local state digniatries with a lengthy espousal on the fortunes of the Lincolnshire club to date that season. It wasn't until after the banquet given in his honour that he realised his mistake. The Japanese diplomatic delegation was very embarrassed and a deal had to be struck with the local media to 'bury' the story.

Hampton win 3-0 to virtually cement their place in the conference south play offs, so if anyone is bored in May then come along as it will be a good crack to watch the play offs, in other news...

...Stevenage need to win/draw at home to Torquay on saturday and Aldershot are crowned champs.

Talking of Stevenage

BLUE SQUARE SOUTH

- Tuesday 29th April 2008

- Saturday 3rd May 2008
Play-Off Semi Final 2nd Legs

- Thursday 8th May 2008, kick-off

Great result for the Gulls today which clinches the playoff spot pretty much, just hope we get Stevenage again and hopefully we haven't peaked too soon!
