Winston Biscuit How many successful signings has Ten Hag made?

Casemiro was really good last season. Erikson has been really good in a number of games. Martinez was excellent last season. Malacia was brought in as a cheap backup and has done well.

Onana, Mount and Hojlund to early to judge. Also the striker position at Utd has been a graveyard shift for the last ten years, zero supply!

The free and loan deals are a good indicator of how the Glazers operate. Name another team in the division that would have taken Weghorst as their main striker

Did the Glazers keep the receipt for Mount ?

can only imagine Mount is for how he wants his team to play given all the right personnel...(like a Frenkie de Jong)

dunno

Man Utd look utter dog shit. Fernandes is an absolute cock and him and Erickson just aren't convincing. Rashford seems to just run down blind alleys - does he actually pass the ball? Too many players can't be arsed. They've spent an absolute shit ton of money and they're just not very good.

Obviously all the Glazers fault.

Yes it's always the Glazers fault.

I read yesterday that Man Utd have spent £1.5 Billion since Fergie finished.
Perhaps they need to spend as much again to do better than playing like Sheffield United or Forest in a home game v their local rivals (if that word may still be used).

It's good to have Brobot back but only for this thread.

BTW Brobot I am still alive despite your death wish at the end of last week which some might consider to have been in rather bad taste.

Hojlund looks to have something about him in the final third, although it won't all happen overnight. Mount doesn't seem to be doing anything for them currently and obviously the midfield still needs some continuity and a bit of a refresh really. They are obviously still a long way off, but most of Ten Hag's signings have been ok, unfortunately you'd expect more than ok for the hundreds of millions he has spent.

Although i agree he has promise it is quite funny that they bought a blonde, Scandinavian lad, with a similar sounding name to Haaland.

Just asking for other teams fans to take the piss and say they ordered Haaland on Wish.

the Glazers are bleeding United dry. They haven't spent a single penny of their own money and have put the club in nearly £800M worth of debt. The club has also paid out over a billion in debt repayments and dividends to the Glazers. Other teams go into debt to improve the infrastructure, OT is a fcuking shambles and the training facilities are not up to standard.

They appointed the likes of Woodward, Arnold and Murtagh. Bankers who know nothing about football and paid way over the odds for shiny misfits (e.g. Di Maria etc) so they could sell more shirts.

The typical MO is to spend money when we're not in the CL and then when we are there the manager gets nothing*. Mourinho's second season was Fred (who JM didn't want) for £50M and a third-choice keeper. ETH got Weghorst on loan in Jan last season. You got Gakpo (who ETH also wanted) for 42M euros.

Also, this has been a terrible ten years for United but we have still finished above LFC five times

If Hojlund was at City he'd have way more goals than he has at Utd. He gets pretty much zero service from Anthony or Rashford

You have completely avoided the little matter of the £1.5 Billion spent on players.
Imagine how far ahead City and Liverpool would be if they had spent that much.
The stadium was rubbish before the Glaziers came along.

Yeah, they wasted it. In the same way, LFC massively outspent us in the 90s and were shite. Poor decision making

United have had a terrible start

As stated above he will be the United manager to reach 50 wins in the fewest games. He inherited a squad that achieved the worst-ever finish in United's premiership history. He got that team to third and two finals, winning one (not turning up for the other).

So no!

But they are a truly awful football team who play arguably the most depressing style of football in the Premier League. A better manager gets more of a tune out of what is a very average squad.

He did exactly that in his first season.

He's had to deal with Greenwood, Anthony, Ronaldo, Sancho and the sale...all none footballing issues.

He brought a keeper in to play out from the back to Varane and Martinez, he also pursued Kim Min Jae who could play this way. He's now left with Maguire, Lindelof and Evans after injuries. He tried to get rid of McTominay and Maguire in the summer. They're still here and playing due to fitness/injury/whatevs of other players. So ETH clearly didn't want to play the way he is now.

If there is a style of play it's winning the ball high up the pitch. Utd are number one in the stats for doing this. They just can't do anything with it when they get it back. Mctominay yesterday had an easy pass to either Rashford or Hojlund (both free in the box) but decided to scuff an easy shot to Ederson

Not sure what's going on with Casimero, clearly not fit enough. Erikson and Amrabat can't play 90 mins either <smh>

Rashford is not a good footballer. He's someone who is capable of getting a lot of goal involvements (30+ last season).

Anthony is shit, would have been a decent enough squad player at the original £40M but at £80-100M. At that price, he has to be played every week or the manager would (rightly) be questioned about the purchase.

Hojlund is a young kid who is being asked to save United...but is given no service.

United have been on the wrong side of a number of tight VAR decisions (prolly correct tbf). They may have made a big difference to outcomes

Quite possibly, just highlighting that a mm or two of difference would have been enough to paper over the very large cracks

- Wolves should have had a pen but so should we in the same game
- Garnacho goal* against Arsenal and Rashford's pullback for Hojlund goal* were both marginal (not entirely convincing but prolly correct)
- Romero handball, no pen given against Spurs...I've no faith that handball pens will be administered consistently
- Hojlund was wrestled to the ground by Gabrielle with no pen but they dragged it back yesterday for Rhodri

Whilst it may sound like sour grapes, I'm just saying that...

...a bit of luck and the number of points would hide the poor performances

Definitely don't think it's Ten Hag's fault. United have been on this cycle for years... from an outsiders perspective, the issue seems to be lack of focused transfer policy

xackly...

New manager in, back him financially the first year, not the others. Then blame him for poor results, sack him and repeat

ETH needs to at least get rid of the previous 4/5/6 manager's players. It's then his squad that he gets judged on. Preferably with some consistent forward-thinking from a football director
