I'd say they were spending their vase earnings but the coach + hotel stay would take most the money!

Sutekh
Royal Rother Windsor have just signed 3 players, all of whom have been playing at a higher level.... ex RFC Curtis Ujah who I saw playing for Chesham a couple of years ago. Class at that level so should eat up the Hellenic.

Ex Burnham (when they were very decent) and Chesham striker Ryan Blake, and ex Maidenhead captain who has also been at Slough Town this season, Mark Nisbet.

With fixture build up likely to make it very hard for our very young and very old squad to get through the season unscathed these may just be short-term signings to bolster the squad for a couple of months but all 3 should be a cut above most players in the league.

Is that sustainable on the Windsor budget?

We certainly won’t be paying them anything!

A squad gets you to the Qtr Finals of the Vase without wages, you get knocked out and then you bring in some wages earners to finish off the season? Not the best way to keep team spirit / loyalty.

I suspect it’s more of a dual registration thing, playing a few games here and there for us to keep them game fit in order that their current clubs can call on them if / when required... wages still paid by their main club, as they would be if they stuck around doing nowt.

Bit of a shame Bracknell and Windsor couldn't get results, but it seems Marske could be the team to beat after turning Bracknell over on their plastic.

Well done to Thatcham for keeping the local interest alive though.

‘Without tempting fate’ and all that stuff

Who would make that effort to take that trip to Wembley should Thatcham Town actually get there?

Despite never ever taken the trip to Waterside before, I would

C’mon Kingfishers...make it happen!

Not sure about the Berkshire side of things but Reading were well represented in two Vase winning sides 10/15 years ago when Didcot and Winchester won it.

That was before the final returned to Wembley too, so doesn't really count for the hallowed turf!

Don't think you can class Didcot or Winchester as representing reading.

You were in Reading when you pretended you were in Amsterdam so you seem to get your locations mixed up too.

Such a shame for Bracknell but a fantastic attendance at Larges Lane. Marske by far the better side and a level above.

To be fair, I think I meant a bit of both RFC and Reading the town. Having thought about it a bit though I'm not sure how many of the Reading based players in the Didcot side were on the books at RFC as kids (I'd guess they all were at some point).
