South Coast Royal Seeing Mainoo hooked I am wondering if he has been over-promoted by England and his reputation has been achieved based on one very good game and maybe he is not quite the new Rodri but the next Kalvin Phillips (who also got subbed at the weekend).
.

He was injured and had to come off!

He's a kid with 30 starts he should be fed into the team (think Foden) rather than Utd relying on him

Indeed. It would be a real shame to see him drift backwards as a result of being over-used and overloaded with responsibility.

Didn't realise he was injured-not sure how that happened as he and the other Man U players had stood around watching for the whole of the first half.
BTW is it some kind of face-saving by Ratcliffe that the manager is still in his job?

Also pathetic to hear the fans singing their tedious "20" times song and I guess they offered a chorus or two of Cantona and Ryan Giggs flying down the wing-all of it relating to the past with no regard for the current.

Still, they have a chance (please) to keep Ten Hag in the job when they go to Lisbon.

Have to say Vic, based on his performances for both United and England, I'm not sure how anyone could come to the conclusion that he has been 'over-promoted'.

Let's face it, TAA has that one sewn up.

I see both you and Vic are being a bit silly.

All club's fans sing of past glories, eg even Reading and 106, at least those fans all have something to sing about so why shouldn't they?

I think it was desperate as they tried to cling to distant memories as they watched their team capitulate to a grateful Spurs.
BTW I think our 106 chant is naff-nobody else in football is aware of it and it smacks of being small time IMHO.

They'll have to stop it if Liverpool ever hit a miracle and win another title.

Keep the faith-it could be this season, at least they will be challenging.

Brobers, do you think a different manager could get a better tune out of this group, or is it just an awful squad filled with terrible purchases?

Only Southampton have scored less goals this season in the Premier League and they are heading towards relegation.

One thing that Man Utd historically have always done is score lots of goals so no wonder the natives of Croydon and elsewhere are getting restless.
Ten Hag-please stay.

Dunno, he's not a bad manager.

For example, If you had to choose between ETH and Slot based on their records over a similar period you'd defo go with ETH. (I'm aware you may recruit for a style that fits your squad). It's interesting for a couple of reasons. First the obvs similarity and second the transition. LFC seems to have managed it correctly whereas Moyes came into a successful squad (champions) and was like 'nah, fcuk this I'm changing it all!'

Is he the right guy? Prolly not but I'd keep him until the end of the season unless a complete disaster (e.g. Kenny Dalglish's 2nd coming)

ETH;Ajax
CL: Semi-Final, (very unlucky(?) to go out on a late away goal. Beat RM 4-1 at the Bernabéu and Juventus 2-1 away)
Eredivisie: 2018–19, 2020–21, 2021–22 (was top during canceled Covid season) (averaged 100+ goals a season)
KNVB Cup: 2018–19, 2020–21; runner-up: 2021–22
Win: 73.5%
He also finished 3rd in the prem and won two cups.

Slot; Feyenoord
Eredivisie: 2022–23
KNVB Cup: 2023–24
UEFA Europa Conference League runner-up: 2021–22
Win: 65.5%

btw pretty much every new manager has come in, done well for a bit, and then it's turned to shit. So a new manger replacing ETH and then doing well for a bit means nothing to me (seen it before).

LVG: top 4, FA Cup, sacked
Jose: 6th (EL Win), 2nd, sacked
Ole: 3rd, 2nd, sacked

Little bit unfair on Slot not to mention his decent work at AZ Alkmaar, if you're referencing ETH's success from 2018-2020?

Some managers take to the PL well, others really struggle. Both ETH and Slot were undoubtedly successful in the Eredivisie. Other than an excellent Cup Final against City not seen very much from ETH to suggest he's going to be a success in the PL. Slot's taken 18 points from his first 7 PL games. Man U probably the best scalp. ETH got 12 points from his first 7 including decent wins against Liverpool and Arsenal.

He's not going to better the 3rd place he achieved in his first season. Can Slot mirror that this season? Time will tell, but I'd be surprised if they didn't finish in the CL spaces.

Wonder how Erik's career would have gone had the Thai's had that 300k knocking about back in 2016.
