Wizard Should Crouch's goal have stood? I thought there was a law whereby if the ball went out of play it must bounce before it went into the goal. I could be wrong but I'm sure I remember long throw > header goals ring disallowed for this reason a while back.

Hey!!!...Not sure where you got that from Wiz...been on the 'sauce'? :|

lol wut

1) the ball hadn't gone out of play, the keeper kicked it from the edge of his box
2) the rule you talk about doesn't exist

Long throws leading to a goal will count so long as another player touches the ball between it leaving the thrower's hands and crossing the goal line. i.e. you can't lob the ball into the net directly from a throw in.

There was a long throw - header - goal in the prem or champ this weekend, not to mention that every goal Stoke scores fits this criteria. Clearly there is no such rule.

As for goal of the season, Benzema's from the weekend deserves a mention. Not as good as Van Basten (my favourite of all time, I think, factoring in its importance), but not far off.

Great goal, but nowhere near Crouch's effort.

Classic from someone who's never played the game.

Maybe it would help us all to understand your view better if you could set out your playing career and achievements for us?

He put a penalty past me once for Team Burbs. Just to help out his credentials, I'm 5'7" and have always been shit in goal. But it was a ok penalty.

Ah, OK, so his deriding of other posters' lack of expertise stems from a long and illustrious career playing five-a-side at Rivermead? I played in a Berks & Bucks cup-winning side one year, would that make my opinion more valid?

Woah, Messi must be worried about his place...no-one has to have played football to any level to know which goal they think is "better".
Leave people to ride along in their own delusion, eh? You're really no better at this football thing than anyone else.

Do not EVER rant at a referee again until you have read the laws of the game. I am quite frankly staggered at your post. So much so I had to check you dd not write this on April 1st.

Just seen Benzema's goal. Never as good as Crouch's, not in a million years.

Benzema makes it look so easy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15DGL1Cf9xI

That is 10 times more difficult to execute than Crouchs.
