Sounds like it is going to happen:
OS Aussies ‏@OSAussies
Rogic off to @ReadingFC to join Fed and @redwards45 if personal terms can be agreed. Will he get a first team chance this season in the EPL?

People saying over twitter that $600K is an 'absolute steal' for a quality player.

If so, a fine bit of business by Hammond... again. Saying that, most reports say he still has to agree personal terms so not a done deal yet

Do not see him agreeing personal terms as a problem. The big fat steaming fly in the ointment
Will be the Border Agency. Will be hard to get a permit. This may take a few weeks to sort out or
may not get done at all.

We need players in so hope we are working on other signings.

seen that video clip, considering their standard of football is league 1/championship lower level, he's not that good if we're thinking of putting him straight into the team.

Never heard of him. Can't see him being good enough to start though!

hey chumps. Tommy Rogic is a STAR :D :D :D :D
you carrrnts are lucky to have him, pretty stupid of the central coast mariners to let the young kid's contract run down into its last few months :o

living in straya, let me point out a couple of things about the A-League. the judgements made by some that it is "shit" is both true and false. you must understand the way a league tightly controlled by a salary cap operates. the better players in the league are very good, good enough to get signed by top flight Dutch and Bundesliga clubs. however with a salary cap of something like 2.5 million a year allowed to be spent on a squad of 20-23 players, the unfortunate situation arises where all the clubs have to include a host of average plodders on the cheap and these unskilled labourers masquarading as professional footballers are more than happy to take the 100K or so offered to run around the pitch and look busy

anyway, on to Tommy Rogic. this kid is a star. he obviously impressed in the NIKE search for a star academy but i suppose you blokes all know about his work permit being denied a year ago when Reading tried to sign him up. so he was snapped up by the Central Coast Mariners for his first professional contract. he was playing understudy last season for another bright young talent in Mustafa Armini who has since been snapped up by Borussia Dortmund. now. i will say this, that Tommy Rogic is at least twice as talented as Armini, and his second half cameo for the national team in a friendly against a strong South Korean team showed us all that he could handle playing at a higher level. quite simply the kid changed the game.

TOmmy ROGIC is a pure technician. possess a lovely gentle first touch (a poor man's Berbatov you might say), has sublime close ball control,
decent dribble, and pretty strong. But what gets every one so excited back here in Straya is his ability to thread the glorious THROUGH BALL, the defence splitting pass. yes he can pop up with some goals but primarily he is an ASSISTS king, wonderful vision, glorious majestic passer of the ball. feed him the ball in midfield and around the penalty box and he will create GOALS

As a fellow Aussie, would like to apologise for fatboi, he tends to go off the rails at times, but his heart is in the right place. I like to keep track of how Reading are doing, due to family friends being from the area and being fans, Fedders being there, and as a Rochdale fan, like to keep up on how Dale old boy Adam La Fronde is doing. I support back to back champions Brisbane Roar in the A-League, I would rate our standard as high League 2 - lower League 1, but is improving all the time. As explained earlier, we are severely restricted by the salary cap, so can't to a Man City and buy a title, have to rely a lot on journeymen and youngsters. Rogic could be one for the future, not ready for EPL yet, but could come along with the right conditions.

The lad sounds like he's got a lot of ability and it makes him an exciting prospect.

I'd hope he compares very favourably with previous Aussie imports Bozanic and Cameron Edwards, who both signed with a lot of positive comments about their potential, the former more so than the latter who I still think was just used to help his better brother, Ryan, settle in over here.

These are the kind of deals (along with those of Carrico and Sunzu) that I'd prefer to see the club make. Yes they might not all work out, but bringing in young talent that still has the desire to play football and improve is far and away preferable to giving tired mercenaries a load of money to amble round the pitch for 70 minutes (ala QPR).

I;d rather we just didn't waste money, but yes I prefer investing in the future. This guy does look like an exciting player though.

He'll create a lot of goals in championship, premier league quality.. well we'll see.

A lot of people are saying he is just for the future. But I don't understand why we would fork out £600k for a player when we need help with our team now. I reckon this kid is in MCD's team plans and 20 years old isn't too young. Players like Sig, Karacan and Pearce made it to the first team around that age. I reckon he is for now and theat MCD may start him on the bench and bring him on for a couple of games and if he impresses then play him in the Sig role. I'm excited!
