floyd__streete Havant and Waterlooville - romance of the cup and all that - edge out Swansea in what sounded like a belting tie to earn the plum draw of Liverpool away. Yet the lucky viewer has been treated to an hour and a half of utter toss between Man City and West Ham, a run of the mill Premier League fixture. In Round 4 we have the enticing prospect of Wigan vs Chelsea and Manchester United being covered for the 97th cup round in a row by Auntie. Makes you laugh, they wheel out tired old Motty - who in a more liberal, euthanasia embracing culture would have been put down years ago - trotting out the old giantkilling cliche's yet his paymasters always accomodate tedious looking FA Cup ties between Premier League teams who know each other inside out.
And don't get me started on Match of the Day. This used to be a highlight of a Saturday night in but it is now a dreadful programme with an over-used panel of 'experts' who add precisely zero to my viewing pleasure. The nadir came Saturday last when that staple diet of the Goal of the Month competition popped up.....just for fun, smugly retorted Lineker. No premium bonds, no pair of tickets for a match of your choosing.....surely the BBC could have dusted down an old copy of Des Lynam's autobiography?
Thanks to the unique way the BBC is funded.....the only sport we do show is covered appalingly.
Great stuff Floyd and spot on.
