Montenegro should, in the fullness of time, be a half-decent side. Some genuinely good players in there.

LOL@

"37 min: Although I didn't count them at the time, I'm reliably informed that the header that got Belarus on the scoreboard was the final flourish of a 23-pass move. Can anyone remember the last time one of the home countries scored at the end of a 23-pass move? Me neither."

I wasn't watching so don't know the inference of your emoticon but in the first half Heskey was the only England player who looked any good at all

Heskey has been brilliant since he came back into the England squad - a seriously under-rated player with an admittedly dodgy goalscoring record. He is a huge asset to the side and is allowing Rooney to play his natural game.

Why the emoticon? Heskey is a more than decent player who is unfairly dismissed by people who don't bother watching what he contributes to a team.

Would I want him in a Reading team? Yes please.

Haven't been watching - second half on radio only.

I grudgingly accept that Heskey isn't good at a lot, but if you want a battering ram to bruise defenders, to hold up the ball and flick the ball on then there aren't better in England.

However, in the lead up to the goal it sounded like Heskey danced through the defence - hence the :| I just can't imagine it.

Shame he hasn't scored for England for 5 years. Don't get me wrong, he does a job for the team and is brilliant but his International goalscoring record is poor.

Heskey did some sterling work down the left, side stepped a couple on his way into the box before squaring it for Rooney to finish with a nice touch that made the finish look easier than it really was. Nothing Heskey hasn't done before, especially when he's played out on the wing for club and country

As others have said, totally underated, and more than just a battering ram RZR

We've now switched to 4-5-1 with Rooney going to the left and Gerrard through the middle. Not surprising really as the midfield still hasn't looked right with Gerrard on the left and Barry and Lampard in the middle. Still hate to see Rooney out wide though

How many actual games has he played in those 5 years?

How many goals have his strike partners scored and how many games have England won, lost or drawn?

dont think anyone can argue with that
a good target man for rooney to run off. or owen when he is fit/ picked
but a poor goalscorer.
he plays the same role for wigan and does not score that many

Pah. He's a rumbling lump with Bambi's ice-skates on.

I can't believe his sterling work was anything more than an accident.

Now stop it - any more of that winding up nonsense and you'll be sent to bed without any supper.
