It was Keane himself who was keen on SHunt. Also the rumour was that SHunt wanted to work with his hero.

If they sign anymore irish players people will accuse them of sectarianism.

So a player would no longer be interested in joining Sunderland then :|

Jones and Gordon probably were the two main reasons they didn't go down last season, imo.

A bit more ... quality control ... from Keane's boss was perhaps needed.

Wait a second.

Anton Ferdinand?
£8 million?

LOL

Even if they're decent players, are they worth £9m and £5m respectively?

I don't think Jones would be that short of it, considering players such as Nugent, Chopra and Harewood transferred for ~ £5 million that summer. Oh, and Kitson as well, I guess.

Gordon - I think you may have a point but I don't know how much the selling club held out for, how much is up front and how much is paid upon success.

Lastly, if they have that money to spend and can get the player they want, then why not? Its not Keane signing the cheques, it is the guy above him.

'greed. Quinn was all over the media when they went up giving it the 'loadsamoney' routine. It's not Keane's fault that they paid so much.

Still a twat though.

I couldn't belive he paid 2 million for Diouf. Well past his sale by date.

That's definitely one of the less dramatic ones. Diouf was very important for Bolton for a long time.

I have to admit the £8 million Ferdinand one and £5 million for McCartney were new to me.

They. They are mental.

£5 million for Chopra

Did a very good job to take them up but I can't see him making a good man-manager in the long term once the initial hard-man effect has worn off, and their squad is ridiculously bloated. Plus there should be no place in the game for anyone who does tackles like his on Haaland, then boasts about them in a book.

Just LOL at this comment. 2m for a 27 year old who has been consistently quality for Bolton? That is a risk worth taking imho.
