Dirk Gently Earnshaw is another.

That said, Earnshaw is proof that aliens can breed with humans, so some respect due there.

City today linked with Villa and Given, the biggest LOL could be if Ireland moves to Arsenal though.

Can't see any top top player joining them this month. Surely only the greediest of greedy players will join City when they are in the situation they are in.

agreed

i cant see city bringing in any "superstars" this month as they are doing crap and no one would really see them as an attractive club to be playing for at the moment
hughes will be sacked by the end of the season and they will get in a big name manager

City don't need Galacticos, they need some solid, dependable, unspectacular defenders. Then Robinho and co will start winning them games.

Agreed. Bridge is a good first signing for them. They need a central midfielder who can tackle and organise next.

That'll be the organiser then. Oh it's so easy when you have money. Both good signings imho.

'Greed, both proven at premiership level, wont need too long to settle in. At least they've brought British instead of bringing in loads of people from abroad.

The hacks on Sunday Supplement yesterday morning were quite critical of Hughes for going for the likes of Parker as they're not the kind of player who is going to kick the club on to Champions League football etc as the owners are clearly going to want.

Personally I don't think they're going to be able to attract the top players and so 'short term' signings Parker are exactly what City need.

Will they be the players to keep him in a job come the summer remains to be seen though!

More like it's not the sort of transfer to get their pulses racing and fill the back pages. City first and foremost need a few grafters that can guarnatee they stay up. Try and finish mid table and then in the summer expect a few 'names' to join them.

'greed - the likes of Kaka etc wont want to join a club half way through a season when they are already playing European football....plus the fact if City go down then they certainly wont want to stay.

In the summer, should City stay up, i can see a complete overhaul - hopefully Hughes will stay as manager cos i do think he is good. The problem being is every seems to think cos City have money they are suddenly entitled to be in the top 4, even though all they bought (until January) is Robinho

and even come the summer they still wont be able to buy top players due to failure of getting in the CL.

I agree on Hughes, I'd love to see him given a proper opportunity to make it a success.

An interesting point made was that although Mourinho did an excellent job taking Abromovich's money and bringing home two titles he didn't add too much to the side that the Tinkerman had put together and once Jose was really given the money to spend it all started to unravel a little bit.

Personally I think thats a bit harsh as I'm sure it was Mourinho that bought in Cech, Drogba, Carvalho and Essien who all played a massive part in the success.

The advantage that Chelsea had over City was that they were already right up the top of the table with a pretty decent side before Mourinho came in to finish the job.

I agree with the first point. The Cech deal had already been done by Ranieri, but he didn't arrive until the summer and thus started his Chelsea career under Mourinho.

The likes of Lampard, Robben, Gallas, Makelele, Joe Cole etc were all Ranieri signings and apart from Carvalho, the Mourinho signings didn't really hit if off in their first season, as the likes of Gudjohnsen out-performed Drogba.

Essien didn't arrive until the second season.

Downing has handed in a transfer request at Middlesbrough - he'll be a Spurs player soon

West Ham have rejected the claims that Man City are set to sign Scott Parker for £12m

According to SSN just now!
