prostak Thank God for the media companies eh? Fighting the corner for the downtrodden, voiceless television markets of Europe.
Vuvuzela is of course in no way a long-standing tradition of SA but it's the current fashion, just as those terrifying bendy kite men things were in Japan. Don't award a nation hosting rights on the back of boosting national pride, only to insist they work to strict, European guidelines. For the most part this whining's not borne of a colonial attitude, but it certainly has much in common with one.

And may we never voice an opinion again in case we upset some sensitive souls. CHRIST.

I'm interested to know how the players see it btw.

BBC > ITV

Watched our game in the pub and didn't hear too much of that awful noise the token africans are making that absolutley kills any hint of atmosphere. Had to turn the volume off when watching from home.

Wanky unreliable transport for fans.
Wanky atmosphere for real fans.
Wanky football that no one seems to be able to get used to because it's too light.

I'm watching the Holland game and the commentary is almost drowned out by those bl*ddy horns. I just hope they ban the damn things.

You really are a dick.

Don't like the vuvuzelas, but not sure you can really ban them.

Come on then which of that is ill-informed bollox?

The ball seems to have caused players problems, although personally I think it's just a bit of an excuse BUT they do it at every tournament as Adidas try to tinker with a perfectly acceptable ball.

Plenty of fans seem to have struggled to get around the place from the reports I've seen and heard. They might not be very common problems but it seems apparent that the SA authorities leave a lot to be desired in organising certain elements....certainly if you take into account the 'riots' by the stewards yesterday.

From BBC web site, authorities will not ban Vuvuzelas http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 737455.stm , if so I really think they can ensure that we can hear the commentary instead of those bl**ddy horns drowining it out!

Germany seemed to get the hand of the ball OK last night. Maybe the teams just haven't been playing that well yet.

I've played with it a couple of times and really have to say it's not that different to any other £50+ football. Same news story every world cup. YAWN.

As for the Vuvuzelas / transport issues. This the World Cup, the celebration of the global game. FIFA should be congratulated for their determination to take football to the world - far more inclusive than the Olympic movement ironically enough.

As a result of this, yes there are some issues, but this is Africa, what did fans expect? Japanese Bullet trains to the ground? It's like going to Delhi and moaning that it's a bit hot and busy.

I'm not a fan of the Vuvuzela's but at least they mean that the tournament has it's own identity and a bit of personality. In an age of soulless, identikit modern stadia (and fans), that is to be applauded. And seriously, are they really that annoying, or do you just like to moan about sh1t?

Agreed.

The Dutch and Danes both travel in numbers and i'm prety sure the Dutch have a band. But after 80mins of football i'm yet to hear one song or cheer to suggest either side have any support at all.

I refer you to SBers and Seals posts if you need a detailed explanation as to why you suck at the internet jay.

In addition

oxf*rd football that no one seems to be able to get used to because it's too light.

i'm not actually going to the effort of finding and posting the figures, but iirc the ball weighs about 5g less than the maximum weight set out in FIFA standards.

Haven't they been using it in the Bundesleague this season? Or was that made up by the Sun complaining about ze Germans?

They have been as the Bundesliga have their balls supplied by adidas - fair play to them.

In fact, I think most leagues who use adidas balls have been using it.

It's not the weight of the ball it's how it plays that's the difference. A ball can feel much lighter than another even though they weigh the same.

It's all about how it feels, bounces and flies through the air, not the weight. By all accounts it 'feels' light. Anyone who's played with a half decent new match ball and then kicked about a knackered old training ball (which all weigh about the same) will know exactly what they mean.

Just shows how efficient Nike's publicity machine is. A brilliantly orchestrated campaign to subtly rubbish their opposition's products.

they've all had plenty of time to get used to the ball, so that isn't much of an excuse to be honest.
