I was amused that the MOTD pundits said that because Williams said it was unintentional then that was OK, like he'd admit to it being intentional.

"of course I was aiming for the cheating bastards head, that'd show him"

IMHO of course it was intentional to kick the ball at RVP, just not at his head.

My favourite bit was when RVP immediately jumped up to have a tantrum at the Swansea player only for someone else to trip him up

Rumpole
Victor Meldrew Just watched Ferguson's post match interview.
For those posting on AE regarding the death pool you might care to add the old git-his face looked a bloated and red mess-I see cardiac problems on the horizon.

How that man (generally) gets away with saying outrageous things and bringing the game into dispute and not getting punished is just so cowardly from the FA and Premier League.
Today's offerings after only getting a draw (amazingly not much is said whenever they win however spawny tthat might be) were worthy of greater punishment than he has suggested for Williams the Swansea defender
Firstly he spoke about the ref having a shocker, being young and inexperienced etc.
Secondly for those that haven't seen it Van Persie bought a free-kick on the edge of the Swansea boss and Williams angrily kicked the ball at Van Persie (something that happens in most games) who was on the gground and the ball hit him on the head.Van Persie (unhurt) immediately jumped up and started a fight-both players were quite rightly booked.
Ferguson then calls for a lengthy ban for Williams as if it were attempted murder as he felt that Williams had tried to kill him-actually he kicked the balll at him and rather than hit him on the body it hit his head.
Ferguson then said it was one of the worst things he had ever seen in football-oh yeh,Keane stamping on the City player as he lay on the ground,Paul Scholes making a career of blatantly kicking people etc. etc.
He would be the first to complain if a foreigner waived an imaginary yellow card but here he is doing the same thing, looking for an opponent to be punished.

He may have been knighted,he may have brought Man Utd their most consistent period of achievement at the top level but he has done more to damage the image of football than any other manager I can remember.
Will he be charged with bringing the game into dispute again, will he f***.
At the end of this season he will probably be replaced by the next worst ,Jose Mourinho.

Marauding Dog and Retro whatever he calls himself has emerged on here and his diabolical manners mirror those of his favourite leader-normally one would blame the parents for producing such a malicious and distasteful low-life but in his case I also blame this manager for influencing him so badly.

Rev Algenon Stickleback H Kicking a ball at a player is a red card if deliberate. It wasn't that long ago that a Bristol City player at the Madejski got a red card for kicking the ball into the crowd. I'd love to hear Fergie's take if he got a player sent off for that.

SAF after Everton 1-0 Man Utd, 20/04/2005 said not You can't kick a ball at a spectator nowadays and Gary Neville should know that. There was intimidation from spectators but you expect that, this was a derby match and Gary should have known better.

Man U 2-1 down ATM..2nd Newcastle came after the officials changed their minds having orginally given offside for a shot which hit Evans...so gave an OG instead.

Another game, another late winner for United. Happens far too often for it to be a coincidence.

I just wish we had the same desire towards the end of the game. More often than not, we're on the receiving end.

Sir Alex is a credit to the game, the fact that he's still so hungry and keeps his players inspired and focused for 90 minutes regardless of how much they are paid or how many minutes they sit on the bench is an example to all the other top clubs. Can't see anyone other than Utd winning the title this season, despite the fact that their defence at times has been atrocious.

What a typical load of shite from Victor 'Mr Liverpool' 'Meldrew.

When you stop crying into your bovril about Hillsborough, maybe you could see the seriousness of what happened and stop acting like a proper tool. Putting a players life at risk, irrespective of who they play for is a disgrace. It was clearly intentional and very dangerous. Williams should get a very heavy ban for that.

I don't think someone who makes reference to Hillsborough just because someone is a Liverpool fan has any right to lecture others about behaviour.

Looks like Ferguson has a different set of rules applied to him than every other manager in league. Openly berating the ref, linesman and fourth official - jabbing his finger, outside his technical area. Any other manager would have been sent to the stands and subsequently banned but, from what I could see, no action taken whatsoever.

90th minute winner for City against Reading, stands half empty.

Stands full at United all the way through to full time on 99.minutes.

Did the City fans have somewhere to go?

Well if the ref is going to apply his own set of rules its only fair Fergie can do the same.

Well...

Considering the manchester united game was a 7 goal thriller and 3-3 to nearly the end, it's unsurprising that more fans stayed there to watch.

The City game was against Reading and not exactly a glamour tie and was 0-0 all the way through.

Seems the ref was only applying the laws of the game, which SAF feels they are above anyway, so it's no wonder the wine-soaked Glasgae nutter kicked off the way he did. He must have had a full jeroboam at half-time, hence waiting until the ref came back out again.

It is not an offence to be in an offside position without the ball. Had Evans missed the ball and it been tucked away by a Newcastle player, it would quite rightly have been called offside. He didn't, they weren't, it was a goal, end of.
