The best team in Europe didn't win it last year.

Yes they did 8)

You can only measure it on winning the trophy.

you are aware that they haven't been 'the greatest team ever' for very long? Only 10 years ago they were just scraping qualification for the UEFA Cup.

Chelsea winning the CL last year was equivalent to Greece winning Euro 2004. They were nowhere near being the best team but what they did was effective for them.

All this can be settled by looking at who has the most fans and what their last attendance was

Not really. Chelsea were one of a handful of favourites to win it last year at the start of the tournament. :|

Let's say you get a side finishing 2nd in their domestic league, runners up in both domestic cups and the Champions League and another side ONLY wins the CL. I know which I'd prefer to do. 8)

Dortmund 2nd in the Bundesliga, but if they win the CL, are they then the best team in Europe? That one will really confuse you.

Whether they were one of the favourites at the start or not during the tournament they were not the best side and were outplayed by most of the teams they played that's why it is comparable.

I was actually paying them a compliment by saying they were effective, only you could take a compliment and turn it into an insult. Bit of a Lollerpool victim mentality there Kes.

No, they'll be the champions of Europe. Champions =/= 'best' team. The number of games it takes to win the CL is nowhere near a big enough sample size to make that kind of judgement.

Messi was not injured, but he just was not feeling okay, I thought he would not help the team," Vilanova told reporters.

Earlier in this thread NFA said Dortmund were not the better team, Real were, even though BvB went through.

But also Chelsea were the best team last year because they won.

Obviously he is just trolling, but isn't that what makes football better than all other sports?

The uber low scoring nature of football provides the opportunity for upsets on such a regular basis compared to all other sports, which makes it so much more exciting than other sports, becuase individual goals are so much more important than anything else in other sports, and can be magicked (spelling?) out of nowhere from say, a 90th minute Drogba corner...
