You can interfere with play without touching the ball, and standing between the defender and the keeper is clearly interfering with play. If Cisse wasn't there De Gea shouts for the ball and tidies up. Instead Evans is forced to make a decision and try to deal with the cross. If Cisse wasn't stood there Evans wouldn't have scored the own goal. Clear offside to anyone who understands the game .

Have a :| yourself. The Referee's Association said it was a goal - clearly they understand the game.

A load of suits who like most refs have probably never played the game.

Anyway, no action to be taken against Fergie 8)

Personally, I think it should have been disallowed as Cisse was interfering in the situation by being there, however, a bad decision does not give a manager the right to have it out with the officials face to face and he should have been sent to the stands, as any other manager would have.

Coming so soon after has embarrassing Van Persie comments, you have to wonder if the old soak isn't losing it a little like a footballing equivalent of Brucie.

Far from falling off the edge I suspect he is fully in control of everything. A genius in every aspect of football management.

retro_royal 90th minute winner for City against Reading, stands half empty.

Stands full at United all the way through to full time on 99.minutes.

Did the City fans have somewhere to go?

City fans had to admire the Premier League trophy they won last season.

My view is if you're not interfering with play you shouldn't be on the pitch.

Cisse was interfering. If he wasn't there it's unlikely Evans would have scored the own goal.

Fergie was right.

That leaves any manager to berate the ref & linesmen to their hearts content without prosecution from the FA/Premier League from now on.

What I don't get is how 2 weeks ago the incompetent Mike Dean failed to stop play when Michu was totally poleaxed by Lloris and it was barely mentioned the next day, then the following week the incompetent Mike Dean misses 2 penalty shouts in the same move and allows a dubious winner for Man City* and it's barely mentioned the next day but when the incompetent Mike Dean actually gets a big decision right a whole day of SSN is dedicated to discussion of it?

*yeah alright, maybe biased there

Just glad his foot wasn't planted on the floor otherwise that could easily be a broken ankle.

Careful-old rumpole of the bailey will be coming on here accusing you of being jealous of Fergie etc.,etc (see earlier post).
A disgrace and at least today;s papers have picked up on it.

Doe's anyone know what Fergie said though? If he didn't use abusive language, I don't see what the problem is.

Ferguson having a pop at Pardew's criticism of Sir Alex's behaviour:

"The press have had a field day out of it. They have addressed every possible avenue. The only one they have left out is Barack Obama. He is too busy.

"That is unfortunate. I carry that because I am the manager of the most famous club in the world. I am not like Newcastle, a wee club in the north east."

Must admit that is quite funny, although he will have to expect booing next time they go to St. James' Park!

This latest swivel eyed rant is in response to this explosive comment by Pardew

In the aftermath of the match, Pardew said Dean will have been "slightly disappointed" he did not take action against Ferguson at the time.

Poor old boy's losing it and needs putting out to grass.

When I lose it, I hope that I'm the equivalent of a premiership table-topping manager.

I do believe that everything is done for effect - Fergie will know that his reaction to Pardew's comments is somewhat ott, but he knows exactly how to use the predictable (if relatively mild) anti-MU fallout to pull an extra fraction of focus and intensity out of his squad.

Three times in 6 days is playing the ott card a bit too often IMHO
