Birch sets Portsmouth deadline
July 24, 2012
By Harry Harris, Football Correspondent
ESPN can reveal that Portsmouth administrator Trevor Birch has served notice on all players and staff that the club will shut down on August 10 unless high earners such as Kanu and Tal Ben Haim, owed a combined £6 million, accept compromise deals.

cmonurz If Pompey do fold on August 10th (ok, we know they won't), who will take their place in League One?

By that stage, I would suggest no-one and they'll just go with a 23 team League 1.

Yet, while it looks brighter on the player departure front, the ongoing situation with Tal Ben Haim, Dave Kitson and Kanu – the Blues’ three highest earners – is continuing to apply the brakes.
That not only prevents Appleton from signing players but continues to put the club on liquidation watch, with Balram Chainrai’s Portpin unwilling to take over while the trio remain.
The News understands Ben Haim was offered his most recent compromise deal a week ago. The club has yet to receive a response.
The Israeli international, who this week insisted he is eager to help the club, still wants around £1m to quit.
Agent Pini Zahavi is no longer representing him in negotiations, although it is believed former Blues administrator Andrew Andronikou is advising instead.

cmonurz I’m still utterly confused how this potential takeover meets any sort of test, tbh.

Best of a dire situation by all accounts. Seems the creditors were faced with an 'accept this deal or you'll get nout' scenario.
The state the club is in it'll get relegated anyway.

What confuses me is how this takeover can be ratified. How can Chainrai possibly have, and share with the Football League, a plan for the financial solvency of the club?

Didn't he take it over after the last one? How can he take it over from himself? Or did he do a cheeky sale just before it went into Admin again?
