Ideal
cmonurz Because they are Asian

Asian my butt. They're pakistanis. Although pakistan is technically in southern Asia blobbed in between Iran, Afghanistan and India, it just won't do to keep calling pakistani people asians.
Would you call an Afghan or an Iranian an "asian" person?

Asian type person = Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese etc.

Pakistani, Afghan, Iranian type person = Middle eastern, arab, people.

Stop saying they're asian, cause they're not asians. They're muslims, pakistanis, middle easterners, whatever you want to call them.

Compare how they look to what an actual asian person looks like:

Clearly, this is just a way to try to make it sound better. As if somehow it's better to them to be called asian than to be called an arab/muslim/whatever. Sounds cleaner. More harmless.

My conclusion - Pakistani people: they're middle easterners, not asians.

I think that so many people in this country are worried about calling non-English by their correct and inoffensive name that they feel safer calling them Asians and know that the PC police will not come knocking at their door.

As for Ronaldinho people are getting all pompous about Blackburn trying to sign the ex world footballer of the year and yet in some quarters the idea of signing old man Beckham for just 2 months is regarded as good footballing business.

Well that's right. I wouldn't feel safe saying one was a Pakistani and another was an Indian because they all look the same really.

Good business for Birmingham but a drop and a half for Bentley. Liverpool are crying out for a decent winger, surprised they weren't pushing for this loan.
