Still in Europe, to be fair, but that is an unfathomably huge upset. Rangers had a pretty strong team out as well, maybe only 1 or 2 who aren't regular starters.

Associations ranked 7th to 15th get two spots, 16th to 55th get one each. Scotland currently 14th, but barely ahead of Denmark and Switzerland.
Fwiw any change would be from 2026-27. Places in competitions for 2025-26 are already fixed based on rankings end of last season (when Scotland were 11th).

Scotland only got their second place in 2022 so looks like the co-efficient is reviewed every 5 years.
